🏈 Alabama could be forced to make a switch at inside linebacker for the Sugar Bowl.

Moody, shoulder 🔪 👨‍⚕️ .

That sucks. Moody waited a long time to get his shot at being a starter. He's been productive whenever he's been able to play. But at least we'll get to see Lawson start, hopefully rotate in some more players and get them some experience. I can not recall whether or not Blackshire is healthy at the moment, but if not.... maybe we'll get to see Jihaad Campbell or Murphy rotate in and play some.

Depth is starting to look like it's going to be an issue with Moody, Blackshire, and now Lawson? I've not heard why or how big of a deal it is. If you look at the roster, and they are without Lawson, it's going to be a horrible match-up for Bama.

I had not heard about Lawson...
He wasn't suited up and warming up with the team yesterday when the media had their viewing period. It may not be significant, but it's odd. Saban has done that a couple of times in the past with bowl preps...first time I remember is with Ingram.

If I may add, with a healthy Lawson it's still a really thin group with inexperienced guys mixed in—Jihaad and Murphy.
Thin is fine... I'm not as stressed or worried about a win/loss in a non-playoff bowl game. I rather everyone stay healthy and some of the next year talent get some game time. I always prefer to win of course, but it's not a stress point for me in a bowl game. I'm also happy Bryce and Anderson are playing, but I hope they have a short lived role and get the backups in quickly to get them some experience. I'd much rather the younger talent get some meaningful reps for the up coming year and I'd want Bryce and Anderson to stay healthy.

Consider it a preview for 2023. If Bama can't play decent D vs. a KSU roster without elite talent, it's not because of players.
It's a bad matchup. Bama in their base is how they've defended offenses like KSU. They'll double team a lineman—without Justin it's already a weakened line that can be double teamed—and swing another to get to the linebackers....and there they find inexperience with Shawn, and To'o To'o isn't known for his strength shedding lineman.

Kind of in that same boat, myself. We have missed that young hubgry group trying to make a name for themselves, and I'd love to see a guy come out of nowhere and show out like Henry did against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. He didn't come out of nowhere, but he wasn't the focus of the offensive gameplan is my point.

If they can't handle Power O in the Base D with Oatis and Young and Smith/Burroughs as the 3 DL, then the problem is coaching, it's not players.

How many 5* guys do they need to be able to play decent defense?

Here's another idea - maybe not play 2 deep shell every run down and get Hellams in the box to support the run.
