Will the committee inspire the Bama faithful to keep hope alive or will they dash all hope against the rocks?
There are too many ā€œifsā€ at this time until this Sat. I know one if that is certain, IF, we would have taken care of bidness there wouldn’t be any more ifs until maybe after the SECCG.

Even though the score was close, Bama looked terrible in so many different areas of the game I'm just not sure why they should stay in at this point.

Pulling for a TCU upset tho... then I think Bama fits nicely over the other 1 loss teams.

Also I think Ohio St. beats Wisconsin... not sure if that really makes it any better for us.

But Bama didn't and now we wait, but this one isn't the last one, Right? We still got next week after all these games this weekend?

I think Ohio st. Beats Wisconsin too, but who knows.

This weekends games will either hold serve or chaos will reign! A TCU and an Ohio State win are our hopes for getting in for a 4th straight time. While we looked awful last weekend, the committee should take into account the previous 11 games. So I'm going to sit back and relax. If we get in fine, if not, I'm fine. This kind of season though will likely lead to this 4 team format being scrapped and either a 6 or 8 team format being launched REALLY soon!! I realize we still have several more years in this format, but I guarantee that if we have multiple 2 loss conference champions get left out, like OSU, then changes will come sooner.

Well, if the barometric pressure is correct and the wind is from the East at 5 miles per hour, and the humidity stays under 24%, you can use your sextant and a protractor to work out the answers. h/t

We are probably at 5, no lower than 6 tonight but next week is the key. I think we have a good shot at NOT making the playoffs. I think our best way to get in is if Ohio State beats Wisconsin and even then, we may miss it. Even if Miami beats Clemson, I think they would put Miami in over us.

Not sure where we fall to tonight, but I think we stay ahead of UGA. We both lost to the same team and we played them better (per the score board). I think it will be Clemson, OU, AU, Wisconsin then Bama, then UGA.

Yea...maybe Wisconsin and AU swithch places. But top 4 on my board...if I had one
And maybe Miami might be there also...but that dont matter....and AU and UGA will work it out....
Optimistic about our chances...unlike so many on this board

I think we're going to be at 5 or 6 (should be 5).
I'd like to see TCU pull the upset next weekend. If ohio beats Wisconsin, I can see a push to get them into the playoffs where they have NO business being. They were clubbed by Oklahoma and Iowa. Clemson needs to beat Miami (CU beat the barn -that's why)
We'll see what happens tonight - hopefully #5.

Losing the last week of the regular season is pretty much a death sentence for the playoffs but I cant see them putting a two-loss OSU over Bama, especially one that got blown out by unranked Iowa. In fact I can't understand how they crawled back in the Top 10 after that. The only 2-loss I can see jumping Bama is Auburn because of the head-to-head. The biggest obstacle is conf. championship, the committee puts a lot of stock into it.

Teams that will be ahead of us tonight: Clemson, Wisconsin, Auburn, Oklahoma (not sure why since they lost to an unranked). We should be ahead of UGA, OSU and TCU.

What gets me is people sounding the horn (just read comments at the end of the WSJ article) that the best conference in football can't be left out of the final 4 if Ohio State beats Wisconsin. Wait, didn't the B10 get absolutely creamed in the past 2 years with their Final 4 entrants?

And isn't this year very similar to last when a 1 loss OSU gets the nob over a 2 loss PSU that actually beat them and won the conference title? Why would the committee do different this year? Maybe because OSU laid an egg in the first round... But still.

If Ohio State or TCU wins, we will be in. I still for the life of me cannot see them putting a team that got drilled by Oklahoma and Iowa in the playoff. JT Barrett has been up and down and Ohio State has not looked like the team the country expected. Giving up 55 points to Iowa and 31 at home to Oklahoma is not a playoff resume, I don't care what they did to Penn State and Michigan State, or even a crappy Michigan team. Alabama alteast killed the teams we were supposed to and fought to beat those ranked teams we did play. Let's not forget, as awful as we played and as awful as folks hae said we looked, we still led Auburn late into the third quarter, so we were in it till the final minutes of the game, which cannot be said about Ohio State and Iowa or even Georgia and Auburn. Just think, we lost by twelve whole points playing the worst game in the Saban era against the #6 team, disregarding the 2007 season.

One thing I don't understand is how a late season loss is worse than a beginning or middle of the season loss? Is there an honest difference if Clemson lost last weekend to Syracuse or a month ago? Is there a difference in Ohio State giving up 55 points and losing to Iowa last weekend or two months ago? Not at all, because they are all losses. The committee has to consider these instances, because it doesn't matter when it happened, losing to Syracuse and Iowa will never match up as well as a loss to Auburn when holding side by side. Also, if our only blemish is to a playoff team and Conference Champion, then there is no difference than when Alabama played LSU years back for the Championship. No way Ohio State can hold up to that.

Because of how bad the SEC was this year, the fact our 2 SECE opponents won 1 conference game combined; our saving grace (and what many of the talking heads including the playoff committee chair) was how we 'passed the eye test'. Sadly, as time ran out Saturday we revealed several warts. Like too many times in college, went to bed with a 10 and woke up with a 5.
