šŸˆ Alabama Board of Trustees approves new 34,000 square-foot athletic training facility

Two-story strength and conditioning center will open January 2013.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The Executive Committee of Alabama's Board of Trustees unanimously approved the immediate construction of a new, 34,495-square foot, two-story strength and conditioning facility today during a conference call.

Situated between the Crisp Indoor Practice Facility and the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility, the new, steel-supported building is expected to be ready for January 2013.

The project is expected to cost just short of $9.1 million and will be primarily funded from future revenue bonds. The Crimson Tide Foundation is providing $965,317.

The project is on a compressed, expedited schedule, as today's decision passed it through both Stage I and Stage II of the approval process. The university received a waiver on the consultant selection process and will work once again with Birmingham-based Davis Architects, Inc. The firm, which has handled numerous Alabama athletics construction projects over the years and was recently hired to handle the Sarah Patterson Champions Plaza, is charging $599,677 for this particular venture.

two questions.

what is that at the top of the picture above the building.

we've got four feilds to practice on? wow.

At the top it's construction going on at the Bailey Track facilities. It's a 4MM upgrade that has had work being done on it for several weeks now.

With the indoor facility, we have four practice fields. BUT, just a few months ago we had five. They removed a field turf field that ran left to right in the picture above just a few weeks ago. It was located just above the ToddMedia logo on the picture.
