For some reason Bama has always faired better when not holding the top spot going into the season. In fact, in this unbelievable run with Saban, the Tide has never run the table as Number 1 preseason through postseason? They started out as the top team in 2017, lost a game and the ranking with it then regained the top spot later but they’ve never completed the cycle as Number 1. I would love to see it happen at least once … why not this season?

Never thought I would ever see a UL- Lafayette or a Coastal Carolina ranked ahead of Awburn or the Vol'N'Tears in football .... Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As far as I know, only two teams in the modern era have gone wire to wire as Number 1.. Florida State did it in 1999 and USC did it in 2004.
