šŸˆ GAME THREAD Alabama beats Florida to win 28th SEC championship (7th w/ Saban)

They only had one return last night worth noting; the first kick that gave them starting field position at the UF 27. The next kick was at the UF 21, followd by five touchbacks. Their kick return team on kickoffs didn't have a bearing on the game.

The third kickoff was to the 10 and they returned to the 32. So really only 2 that we went short on and they actually passed the 25 on.

But with Toney back there, he’s a threat. Wouldn’t put him in Waddle’s league but a definite threat. I’m sure coach has a reason for kicking it short of the goal but it opens the door to risk that out of the end zone closes the door on. Just my opinion as a non-coach.

This scares the hell out of me every game! But, I think the thinking is that we have so many athletes on the coverage team that we can cause turnovers, get a penalty (happens on every 3-4 returns it seems, or stop them short. These things happen quite often, but I still get antsy that we are going to give up a cheap one!

Agree, and to me it depends on the team/return men. Toney is good and scary.

And to be fair to the poster during the thread... when he posted that, we had only done three kick offs. And all were short of the goal line and all returned. 27, 17, and 22 yards. I think CNS started thinking like some of us because After that we started the touchbacks (other than the squib).
