🏈 Alabama Adjusting to Dobb

Opinions solicited: how much can we attribute Dobb's success to the defense having to adjust to him after they planned all week for Worley? I can't image Bama had a lot of film on Dobb. Perhaps the defensive lethargy we saw in the 2nd quarter was actually Bama making those adjustments.

In my opinion this is one of the weaknesses of Saban's complex defense. The ability to adjust on the fly. This happened to us in the 2009 championship game when McCoy got hurt, then again when Jeffereson came in in the 2011 LSU game, then another example last night. As long as things go as planned then we're fine. But if something out of the ordinary comes up it seems we can't adjust. Which in my opinion is the product of having such a complex defense.

Dobbs played a very good game for UT. He is a different type QB than Worley bc he can scramble and runs the read option. This is not the only game Bama's defense has had trouble stopping the read. I too believe that sometimes, we are just too complex with our defensive sets and reads. Sometimes, less is more, especially for a young defense. Hopefully, with the week off to heal and make adjustments, Bama comes out in much better shape than the previous bye week.
