12:50 PM, Alabama after 1 Q: Thomas Johnston of the Alabama All-Stars has a game-high six tackles. His teammate, T.D. Moultry, has five tackles and one sack.
12:48 PM, More on Cam Akers: The Mississippi All-Star earned a state title last week, rushing for 217 yards and five TDs. He also passed for 228 passing yards and two scores.
In the first quarter, Akers has 24 rushing yards on nine carries. Teammate Kylin Hill has six carries for 31 yards.
Expect to see Akers soon on Saturdays.

T.D. Moultry (Jackson-Olin) sacked Mississippi's Myles Brennan. And on fourth down, Moultry nearly sacked Brennan again. But to his credit, Brennan completed a pass on the run to his right. Alabama takes over.

12:27 PM, I've got Two Phones, but Three Targets: McGill-Toolen's Bubba Thompson targeted Hewitt-Trussville's Noah Igbinoghene on three consecutive passes. Igbinoghene caught the first, nearly caught the second in the end zone and on third down, was challenged by a Mississippi defender. Alabama missed a field goal attempt.

Longest play? That would be Richard Lucas of Hattiesburg to Moine Nicholson of Louisville. This Mississippi connection had an 80-yard play during the 1994 game. Last year, Arthur Brown of Starkville (Mississippi) caught nine passes, tied with Hueytown's Cameron Broadnax (Alabama) by catching nine passes.
