Some Players to watch Bama fans:

Hunter Brannon (C) Bama commit
Nico Collins (WR) undecided
Henry Ruggs (WR) undecided
Chadarius Townsend (DB)-Bama commit
Brian Robinson (RB) Bama commit
Kendall Randolph (OL) Bama commit

Did I leave anyone out??

I am also anxious to see Cam Akers on the MS side. He had some video game numbers during playoffs. I'm sure everyone remembers he was once Bama verbal. Seems to be down to Rebs and LSU with my bet on the Black bears.

Nico Collins is not coming to Bama but he has been destroying DBs at practice this week. Ruggs is Bama bound if he doesn't decide to go with basketball IMO and the dude is electric. Coach Rigby (Elba's coach) is coaching the O-Line this week and he told me the other day that Randolph is a man amongst boys.

Interested to see if Marcus Jones (DB for Enterprise) ends up getting some looks from more FBS schools after this week and if he shows out during the game. Reminds me a lot of Javier Arenas (very undersized but physical and an unbelievable return man). I know he visited Auburn late in the year after he decomitted from Purdue. I know there is no chance whatsoever that Bama takes a shot with him (just too small) but be huge for Troy if they could manage to keep him in the Wiregrass.

Live Updates: 30th Annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic from Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl
2:47 PM, Alabama gets breathing space on scoreboard:
Brian Robinson of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa cut his way in and around to reach the end zone from 14 yards. His score, with 3:07 left, extends Alabama's lead over Mississippi: 25-14.

2:46 PM, Let's Talk MVP options: Jake Lane of Alabama has three field goals, as well as a 60-yard punt, downed at the one - by T.D. Moultry, another MVP candidate. Also an option: Thomas Johnston.

2:41 PM, Watch out C.J. Johnson: Your 2010 tackles record (17) is in danger. Spanish Fort's Thomas Johnston has 14 tackles early in the fourth quarter for the Alabama All-Stars.

2:31 PM, An Easy 2: Mississippi surrendered two points when an errand snap sailed out of the back of the end zone. Nine minutes, 33 seconds remain in the game. Alabama 18, Mississippi 14.

2:26 PM, Alabama 16, Mississippi 14: Jake Lane converted his third field goal of the game with 11:06 left, a 38-yarder which gave Alabama a two-point lead.

2:20 PM, END OF THIRD QUARTER: Mississippi leads Alabama 14-13. The visiting All-Stars have dominated on offense, outgaining Alabama 111-58 on rushing; 185-138 passing.

2:15 PM, Alabama offense needs this drive: After a Mississippi punt, Alabama starts at the 40. Terance Dunlap of Class 1A state champion Maplesville is in the backfield.

1:57 PM, INT TD: Bubba Thompson looks for Nico Collins - his first target of the game - but Mississippi's Chadarius Townsend jumps in front at about the Alabama 49, and scores. Mississippi now leads 14-13.

1:49 PM, Second half begins.

1:30 PM, Stats at the Half: For Alabama, Bubba Thompson has completed three of nine passes for 42 yards. Daulton Hyatt passed for nine yards on 1-for-3 passing. On defense, Thomas Johnston of Spanish Fort has nine tackles. Kenney Britt has eight.

Alabama's offense has struggled with snaps under center. Low. High. Low again.

1:24 PM, HALFTIME: Alabama All-Stars 13, Mississippi All-Stars 7.

1:22 PM, Alabama takes lead again: Jake Lane of Park Crossing makes a 42-yarder with 37 seconds left in the second quarter -- his second FG of the first half -- giving Alabama a 13-7 lead.

1:14 PM, Back & Forth: Just when I was about to praise a nice run by Alabama's new quarterback, Blount's Kadarius Toney (he gained about 30 yards on an option run), he threw a costly INT to Jonathan Haynes of Ray Brooks.

No worries. First play from scrimmage for Mississippi's next possession, the quarterback was hit hard by Kenney Britt of Oxford, who forced a fumble. Alabama takes over inside the Mississippi 30.

1:10, Run Left: Mississippi's offense has run left on most of its running plays. And with 4:11 left in the second quarter, Kylin Hill (Columbus) cashed in, scoring from nine yards. Great effort on the TD; stretched out to cross the plane.

1 PM, Big & Bad: Introducing Aaron Odom...The Mississippi All-Star knocked down a pass near the line of scrimmage then nearly intercepted the pass. Great job for the 6-4, 255-pound defensive lineman.

12:50 PM, Alabama after 1 Q: Thomas Johnston of the Alabama All-Stars has a game-high six tackles. His teammate, T.D. Moultry, has five tackles and one sack.

12:48 PM, More on Cam Akers: The Mississippi All-Star earned a state title last week, rushing for 217 yards and five TDs. He also passed for 228 passing yards and two scores.

In the first quarter, Akers has 24 rushing yards on nine carries. Teammate Kylin Hill has six carries for 31 yards.

Expect to see Akers soon on Saturdays.

12:35 PM, TD shows up for sack: That's right. T.D. Moultry (Jackson-Olin) sacked Mississippi's Myles Brennan. And on fourth down, Moultry nearly sacked Brennan again. But to his credit, Brennan completed a pass on the run to his right. Alabama takes over.

12:32 PM, More on Henry Ruggs kickoff TD: The longest kickoff return before Ruggs' special start to this 2016 All-Star edition was 48 yards - achieved twice in 2000.

12:27 PM, I've got Two Phones, but Three Targets: McGill-Toolen's Bubba Thompson targeted Hewitt-Trussville's Noah Igbinoghene on three consecutive passes. Igbinoghene caught the first, nearly caught the second in the end zone and on third down, was challenged by a Mississippi defender. Alabama missed a field goal attempt.

The score stands at Alabama 7, Mississippi 0.

12:20 PM, Where There's a Will: Buckhorn's Will Ignont knocked down a pass, forcing third down. Then his defense smelled a screen pass, forcing an incompletion. Finally, on fourth down, a mishandled punt gives Alabama possess at the Mississippi 28.

12:14 PM, Third Down - No, First Down: Mississippi's Kylin Hill runs hard on third-and-2, picking up nine yards and a first down. Alabama's defense is back, back, backing up...

12:07 PM, So, So Special: So, Henry Ruggs lines up for a kickoff, and returns it for a long TD. Wow... What. A. Start. We'll check on the extra yardage, but it's about 90 yards.

Score: Alabama 7, Mississippi 0.

11:50 AM, A Few Team Records: Check out a few of this game's all-time performances... In 1998, Mississippi held Alabama scoreless (Mississippi won 9-0). In 2007, Alabama scored 34 points in two quarters, the most points scored in a half during this series (Alabama won 51-14).

Longest play? That would be Richard Lucas of Hattiesburg to Moine Nicholson of Louisville. This Mississippi connection had an 80-yard play during the 1994 game. Last year, Arthur Brown of Starkville (Mississippi) caught nine passes, tied with Hueytown's Cameron Broadnax (Alabama) by catching nine passes.

11:24 AM, Your Head Coaches: For Alabama, UMS-Wright's Terry Curtis is the head coach. Wayne County's Todd Mangum heads Mississippi.

11:15 AM, Take a Peak at Mississippi: Mississippi's starting quarterback is Myles Brennan of St. Stanislaus, who committed to LSU during the coaching tenure of Les Miles. Brennan stayed committed during Ed Orgeron's interim status, but has since re-opened his recruitment, although he's still committed to the Tigers.

11:05 AM, Quick Look at Starting Lineups: First, for the Alabama All-Stars:

The QBs were terrible, the receivers in this game def. deserved better. Auburn has some nasty D-Linemen and Linebackers in this class.

Play calling was pretty atrocious for Team Alabama too, the extent of the passing game was bubble screens and under-thrown deep balls.

Enterprise's Marcus Jones made a pretty big play late, with Alabama up by four Mississippi went for it on 4th down. A MS receiver caught a tipped pass out of the air and Jones dropped him for a three yard loss. Alabama scored a cpl plays later to seal the game.

The MS coach was Todd Mangum of the Mangum family (John, Kris). He was my son's defensive coordinator at Madison Central in 2011 over here in MS. He's actually good people. He's the only coach that used to show up at my son's powerlifting meets. He's now the coach at Wayne County. I think that is where Benito Jones played. He also won a state championship at Ocean Springs before Madison Central. He's good people. His defense was the first Madison Central team to knock off the mighty South Panola in 6A play. He only stayed at Madison Central for one year before leaving for Wayne County. As soon as he got to Madison, rumors were flying he would take over as head coach and his popularity was overshadowing the head coach Bobby Hall. Hall was pushed out a couple of years later.
