šŸ“” Administrators and coaches feel the SEC will land at 9 conference games with a 3-6 format when Texas and Oklahoma join

This is a twist considering the narrative we've seen the past several years.

While Saban has stood alone wanting the move to a nine game conference schedule no other coach has stood with him sans Gus when he was at the door step on his way out. Think about what we've heard.

"SEC coaches don't want the ninth game because it would jeopardize their team reaching the six win plateau and earning bowl eligibility."

But that's changed with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma? Two "blue blood" programs join the conference and these coaches don't see reaching that six win mark as more difficult?

Using the ol' logic test, to me, something doesn't add up here.

Right....though...
Its a move in right direction if they wantto keep fans in seats.....
Of course..could keep using the "covid cut outs" of fans....

If bama stays with 2 P5 NCs and 9 SEC games.....

Much better product for the money

The key is who the three permanents are. There has been talk about four-team pods and then rotating teams not in the pod. How does this impact Alabama's games with traditional rivals (LSU, Auburn, Tennessee)? What's the basis for determining the four-team pod? Tradition? Geography? Proximity?

Post Saban era.....thought about that..
But...
If bama can get a committed ...very committed, dedicated, experienced person as HC...
May not be the end of the world... drop off..sure...but..........

May show the world....as great as NS is....bama brand is powerful also...

Studying those that followed BEAR....none were that strong and committed ....
Even Stalling retired with good years left.....(and yes
..i know all the other stuff with family...)

Blow up barn game. No value to Bama in my opinion. I have posted this before. Have not seen any others align with that view. Maybe not practical due ot the politics that would be involved.

Will we be as eager in the post Saban era as we are now for a tougher schedule (9 game sec etc..)? I dread that day...
If we get the right coach and boosters allow him to do his job as they have Saban, we will be fine. The cupboard definitely won’t be bare and we have had guys come in and coach us to 10 wins at least once in their tenure, with the exception of Mike Price and Ears Whitworth.

Wyth the 3-6 format, I'd like to see Bama's 3 as Barn u and the vols. ( the 3rd is up in the air for me...) MSU (long history) or lswho.
Vandy, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State—historically the three easiest opponents. Look at it as the easiest NFL division for a team to make the playoffs.

Because that's what we've got.

No to Tide pods. Could very well end up with 2 at large top dogs playing in the SECCG.

Will the bottom fall out? I doubt it as you say but there will be a dip, no way around it when the GOAT is no longer roaming the sideline. I am thinking in terms of sustaining the Bama standard of the Bear and Saban years.

If theres 3.... tennessee n AU are 2.... #3???????
Maybe a Mississippi school.... state?
You have to take into account the whole conference and what game they may want/need. Au is 100% given. Tennessee and LSU are not. Tennessee should get UF, Vandy, and Bama, but it is just as possible that they get UF, UGA, and Vandy. LSU may get the Mississippi teams and A&M. When you have to get everyone in teh conference to 3 yearly rivals things sometimes look odder than you would think.

Yeah. Cant disagree....
I use to think..."rivaries are untouchable "

I not longer think that....would hate to see TN rivalry go away...or AU...or LSU

That would be great pod for bama.....some years would be really tough...just not lately

Would be a fun project for this forum to schedule out all SEC teams, including Texas and Oklahoma. Trying to maintain some rivalries below, but still looks off and I went with geography the best I could.

Texas - Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas
Oklahoma - Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri
Alabama - Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss
Auburn - Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State
LSU - Alabama, Texas A&M, Florida
Arkansas - Texas, Missouri, Vanderbilt
Ole Miss - Mississippi State, Alabama, Vanderbilt
Mississippi State - Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Florida
Texas A&M - Texas, LSU, Kentucky

Georgia - Auburn, Florida, Tennessee
Florida - Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State
Missouri - Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee
Tennessee - Missouri, Georgia, Kentucky
Kentucky - Tennessee, Texas A&M, South Carolina
Vanderbilt - Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas
South Carolina - Kentucky, ?, ?

You have teams being split into several 4-pods.

If Texas' 4-pod includes Oklahoma, A&M and Arkansas, that would mean that Oklahoma's would be Texas, A&M and Arkansas. There's no way Missouri could be there.

If Alabama's 4-pod includes Auburn, LSU and Ole Miss, that would mean that Auburn's would be Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss. There's no way that Georgia could be there.

Each team can't have their own unique 4-pod.

I wasn't even thinking about pods. I was just trying to come up with three annual opponents that kept rivalries and started up old ones again. Just having a little fun with that part of it I guess.

You assume pods are the end result. I am not convinced that they aren't going to have one big conference without pods or divisions.
