šŸˆ ACC title matchup set: Georgia Tech vs. Florida State

Thanks to Duke's 45-20 loss on Thursday night to rival North Carolina, the ACC Championship game is set, with Georgia Tech winning the right to play Florida State on Dec. 6 in Charlotte, NC.

The Yellow Jackets (9-2, 6-2 ACC) are making their third ACC Championship game appearances in the last sixt years and fourth overall. Duke needed victories over UNC and Wake Forest to deny Georgia Tech that right.

"I am proud to see the hard work our team has put in all year pay off with the ACC Coastal Division title," head coach Paul Johnson said. "We have lots of work to do over these next two weeks!"

Florida State (10-0, 7-0) is headed to this big game for the fourth time in five years. It clinched its spot with its come-from-behind victory last weekend at Miami. Game time is set for either 7:45 p.m. ET or 8 p.m.

It's no wonder Swofford was out talking about an eight team playoff this week. Imagine a Georgia Tech win over Florida State. ACC, sitting at home.

Talk about a bad season for the image of the Coastal. GT wins the division with two losses, both losses to teams in its division (UNC and Duke.) Two of the losses that both UNC and Duke have this season are to teams that finished lower in the Coastal than they did.

Do you see this? The top three teams in the Coastal all have two losses to teams that finished behind them in their own division?!?! And the winner of that division, if it wins the conference, is deserving? :doh2:

I went to their conference championship game last year, Duke vs FSU. Duke is a local team to Charlotte. Got two tickets for $30 in the lower bowl, about 25 rows from the field. NFL stadium, so it only holds about 70,000, give or take, similar to Georgia Dome. Place was probably 60% filled, at most. Nobody cared. Many of the fans around us were local Charlotte folks coming out to catch the game on the cheap. FSU was the number 1 team in the land at that point, and they couldn't fill a stadium. Won't be any different this year.

I hope that the Yellow Jackets send them to a watery grave.

I too wish Tech would ramble over them and wreck their playoff hopes.... Nobody has any respect for FSU this year. Perception is they're pretty good but mainly lucky. If they Tide were to win out and beat them, it's be nice but lots of folks would talk about how FSU was down, bla, bla. I'd rather see us in the playoffs against THE Ohio State University or one of the high-octane offensive teams from out west.

I have a lot of buddies that graduated from Tech, and I keep saying, if y'all beat Georgia and then beat Florida State, watch out cause you could make the playoffs. I know there is like a 1% chance of that happening, but go back to 2008 and it could be a possibility, and more so a fun one to think about. I just like thinking of the insuing choas that could happen, hopefully with us winning out and being #1 of course. More of a possibility now since four teams can make it instead of that many teams fighting for one spot.

I would like to see something similar to that in the Big 12. Two teams tied at 8-1 with both losses to the third place team which is at 7-2 with both of their losses to under 500 teams.

What if GT beats UGA and UGA wins SECCG? :D

I WOULD NOT want to be the DC getting ready for Ga Tech. Talking about having to defend the entire field with the triple option and WRs on the outside that can go and get it. DL better have plenty of ice for those shins!! They will have the SHIT cut out of them ALL NIGHT!!!

Since practically no one runs the triple option the way Tech does, they are very difficult to prepare for. It would not shock me, as undisciplined as FSU appears to be, for them to go down to Tech, or at least have a very tough time of it.

I would love to see Tech beat them in the ACC championship game.

I thought that I remembered FSU having some problems with this earlier. Their second game was against the Citadel, another option team. The cut blocks dinged the Noles so badly that had they not had an off week leading up to Clemson, three of their first four defensive tackles would have been doubtful for that game.

I sent you a text about that game, remember? One of the Citadel linemen caught talking about playing with the intent of hurting FSU players. I'm surprised it didn't get more air play.

Another trip down memory lane...

Remember when the ACC was flaunting their championship game with thoughts of Miami playing Florida State for the ACCC? Miami, a team that's yet to make it to that game.
