We saw how early Miles was fired last year. We're also entering year one of the early signing date for college football.

I've a suspicion this may be the beginning of us seeing college football coaches fired earlier and earlier in the season. Why? AD's thinking about the next recruiting class. It's one of those "unintended side effects" we've heard spoken of a few times.

It will be interesting to see who and what kind of player takes advantage of the early signing period. I see it going both ways. If a player likes school X, and the coach of school X is fired, the player will wait to see who the new coach is (no coach is hired in mid season). If a coach is on the hot seat, same thing. If a kid really loves the school, it won't matter. Many players on good high school teams won't be able to take their officials until after the high school season. This will push their visits into January (due to where final college games are played, academic schedules/exams). No one wants to go on an official when nobody is on campus.
