Looks like some solid guessing. I agree with everyone of them except Woodall. I think he'll end up beating Carter out, or at least he should. :D

I think he will be before the season is over. Below, the guys in red are guys that I think will be either be taking over a starting position or could see just as much playing time as the starter by the FSU game (there are several RB's and DB's who could see significant playing time)...

Stabler might be ahead of Davis at RG.

If he can keeps his knee(s) healthy it will be hard to keep him off the field. If he is relegated to being a back-up though, that means our line is doing very, very well.

I can't say I disagree with this Porter...couple of things poke out at me.

Where's Upchurch? I think we'll be looking at a 3 deep rotation at the RB position simply because I can't see any of these guys handling 20+ snaps per game (as in carries) and leading to 300 per the season.

I'm not sold on Johns. Period. He's a great kid (as in attitude with the fans, kids, etc.), but needs to get his head on straight for off the field situations.

Johnson. I've been high on him since day one. That leads to Stabler. Again, a ? mark.

Can McClain adapt to covering the speed he'll see from the TE's and RB's out of the backfield. Would not be a stretch to do it better than Mustain...but Mustain is a player. From the people I've talked to he's the head turner for fall camp.

Until they take the black jersey off Upchurch a part of me is going to stay a bit worried, even though I probably shouldn't be. If he is healthy though, I do think the he, Coffee, and Grant will all see their fair share of carries. I'm not even sure there will be a clear cut starter at halfback, just a turnstile on the sidelines.

I'm confident that under Saban, Johns will do what he needs to do. Maybe I'm naive though...

If his knees hold up, I'd like to see Stabler move back to RG, and Marlon slide over and take over for Britt at LG. Chris Capps poor showings last year kept the spotlight off Britt who was equally as bad. Hopefully he is responding MUCH better under Pendry's eye though.

The Mustin/McClain battle should be interesting, as will the fight for some of the back-up LB spots. It is a shame they don't have the luxury of redshirting McClain, but you've got to go with what you've got. It'll be nice next season though when he's got that experience under his belt.

i agree with pretty much everything on there. :D

and yea i think that McClain will be starting after the first cpl games, if not before the first game, at Weakside Backer.

I'd never call you naive. Now Chop?!? After hearing him bragging about the 80 degree temps in Cal. yesterday when I was dealing with 120 heat index here in S. Carolina...and thinking about not having to deal with 400K mortgages...well, different story! :)

AS to the OL...hearing Pendry say it's the most talented group on the team reinforces the notion I've had about the coaching on the OL for the last 4 years. I've still found myself holding a lot of question marks...but, find myself saying, "Pendry knows OLmen."

From what I'm hearing, Upchurch could take the black jersey off...but, like I mentioned earlier, he's not a 20+ carry guy. I'm thinking it's more of a thing where the staff is thinking about November.

As to Johns...all I can say is he didn't get the message about classes even with Saban at the helm. We can all hope...pray...you name it. Fingers crossed. He'll be great on a quick screen up the middle from the FB slot; no doubt.

I've been waiting for someone to make an attempt at the depth chart, I almost made on the other day actually...I was kind of hoping that Woodall would beat out Carter, but I don't think it's going to happen. And the good thing about having McClain as a back up is that with his size and speed, he can fill in at just about any position (if he knows the schemes) in the defensive backfield, with the exception maybe being "Jack".

On the O-Line, I think you're dead on, I felt the same way about Britt's play last year...hopefully 3 will step up (minus AS and AC) and get the job done, I don't care which ones it is
