🏈 A new Idea

When Fluker arrives, he is expected to get alot of playing time, maybe even start at left tackle. Am I right? If that does happen, would CNS possibly take a look at putting Carpenter in at RG? I think he is physically more advanced than Boswell is as well as more experienced. That being said I don't know exactly HOW MUCH time Carpenter has spent on the interior but I do know that he is bound to have spent more time there than the month of spring that Boswell has had @ RG. I think Boswell is a really good O-Lineman and is built more like a RT than a guard. Just my opinion of course, but I wanted to see what yall might think about the idea...

As I understand it, Carpenter has a world more experience at OT than Fluker, and against College-level competition (albeit Junior College). Fluker has all-world potential, but only one year experience as OT (and against high school defenses).

With the loss of Smith, the need for solid OT play begins game one this fall. Fluker will not be THAT ready by then IMHO. Game one, Carpenter is the answer.

My thought is to get Fluker in somewhere ASAP, let him get a taste, then roll him into that LOT slot maybe year two. He can letter year one, be All-American year two, Heisman year three, and Pope year four I suppose...that or a first round draft pick.

I heard somewhere along the way Carpenter would be given a shot at the LT position, but would be looked at on the inside if/when Fluker was ready. While we aren't settled yet on the OL the potential is there to have a lot more depth than a year ago. I think CNS will try to get his five best OL on the field.

I think Carpenter looked solid at LT and he looks to be the answer for now. I have a couple of scenarios on Fluker. He could come in and take the RT spot and move Davis down to RG. Of course ultimately I think he'll end up at LT if not by mid-season then next season. Carpenter would be a excellent LG with Johnson gone the next season.

Either way, Fluker is going to get his shot.
