McELROY SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR CONSECUTIVE COMPLETIONS Junior quarterback Greg McElroy set a new Alabama school record for consecutive completions against FIU by completing 14 straight passes. That hot streak beat the old mark of 12 held by John Parker Wilson, who completed 12 consecutive passes over a two-game span in 2008 (at Tennessee and vs. Arkansas State), and Andrew Zow, who completed 12 straight vs. Mississippi on Oct. 14, 2000.

Leigh Tiffin TIES HIS FATHER ON ALABAMA'S CAREER FIELD GOALS LIST Senior placekicker Leigh Tiffin converted two field goal attempts against FIU, making good on attempts from 23 and 29 yards. The two field goals gives Tiffin 59 in his Alabama career, ranking him tied for third place in Crimson Tide history behind Philip Doyle (78 from 1987-90), Michael Proctor (65 from 1992-95). He is now tied with his father, Van Tiffin (59 from 1983-86) on the Alabama career field goals list.

I'd have to look back at each game last year to make sure, but I'm about 99% positive in the last two games he's thrown for more yards in both games than JP did in any game last year.

He's doing this quietly, but if he continues having these type performances he'll end up setting the single season passing record for Bama.

I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but from the looks of the stats it looks like Trent Richardson had a big role in the W.

How did our O-Line look in their 2nd game together?

And also, did Star get in? I know he didn't throw any passes, but I was hoping that he would get in. Thanks.

The Oline looked decent. Star was the 3rd QB in the game but he just handed it off.

The first half was crapola except for McElroy. The defense seemed to having a walk through.
What happened to the "Wild Tide" or whatever? Didn't see it at all.
Richardson is a beast. Can't wait to see what this guy can do when he gets a little older.
Ingram played well, but the flu had its effects. The pros are going to love him with his catching ability.
Glad to see Grant get the TD, but I don't look for him to see much time at RB if Ingram, Upchurch and Richardson are all healthy.
O-line played well. I was pleased. Some of those guys (Jones) have really come along. Jones will be an All American if he continues to develop at this rate.
Injuries! Eeeek!

Star did play, he came in for a few snaps at the end of the 4th—after Darrah.

We did run the Wildcat formation in the first, but just as Saban stated in his press conference, they couldn't stop the run from a basic set so there really wasn't a reason to move to other formations.

FWIW, in 2008, JPW passed for over 200 yards on 4 occasions.

In two games this season, GMac has thrown for 230 and 241.

You are correct that he threw for more yards than any game last season.

More impressive, is that he only has 1 more attempt than JPW had through 2 games last season. The offense has scored 20 more points, and gained 400 more yards after 2 games.

Given that the two defenses faced thus far are arguably better than Clemson and Tulane were last season, it is reasonable to say that our offense appears to be significantly more productive this season.

We ran for 239 and 99 against Clemson and Tulane.

Against VT we ran for 268, FIU 275.

The chicken littles who are looking for a team clicking like we did last season are not fully comprehending what they are seeing. Last season we had a decent offense that clicked. This season we appear to have a great offense that is still coming together.

Defensively, we have improved - we just have made a few mistakes. Still we have dominated statistically...and have racked up 10 sacks already (tied for second nationally) - compared to 25 total last season.

With injury luck, and if we can eliminate the stupid special teams mistakes, penalties, and blown assignments in the secondary, (before they cost us a game) and the offense continues to progress, we will be hard for anyone to handle this year. Tuberville said that on paper Alabama was better this year than last. I am beginning to believe he was right.
