🏈 A different twist on Maryland's uniforms: Lane Kiffen vs Randy Edsall

Step back a few years. In fact, step back to the day Lane was hired at Tennessee.

If you don't recall, there was a multitude—at least it seems that way—of secondary violations reported and, well, left out of the public spotlight. (That's the best way to put that.)

I vividly recall a statement Kiffen made when he was asked about the secondary violations happening during the beginning of his tenure at UT. Quote, and I'm paraphrasing a bit but I'd bet I can find the exact quote...

If it's getting Tennessee talked about...

You know, what he said was true. The things going on in Knoxville at that time were talked about, continuously.

This isn't a commentary on what I think/thought about Lane back then: or today. But, it's just something to use to compare coaching styles.

The choice the administration made at Maryland with the uniforms—with Edsall now at the helm—sure seems like an odd decision. David Letterman's head writer, Eric Stangel, put it best. "For the uniforms alone, Maryland should be charged with lack of institutional control..."


However.

Everyone is talking about Maryland right now.

I doubt taking the field dressed like the Chicita Banana lady would get talked about too, but....

Bama and Penn State have done just fine without standing out like a rodeo clown at a funeral.
