-Prince Hall will be suspended for the first 3 games of the season.

-'08 signee Jermaine Preyear will not be on the 105 roster. He will instead join the team in January due to a shoulder injury.

Porter, will this be a "red shirt" or a "gray shirt"?

Essentially a grayshirt. He will likely be added to the '09 class and it is a good possibility that Chance Warmack will enroll early (in December) and be a back-counter and get the vacated spot on the '08 class.

One other "snipit" of info is the fact that McElwain is the OC he will call the plays and essentially it is "his" baby. No two headed kind of stuff like the input from Pendry.

Any guesses as to how long before the LB unit WITH Prince will be playing like a unit?

I have to figure that it will take Hall a few weeks before he shakes off the dust from being shelved for so long...not the conditioning part, but the nose for the ball and the game speed angle.

Oh by the way, Congratulations to Mr. Hall for taking care of his business to CNS' high standards, and a wish for a speedy and full recovery to Mr. Preyear.

well he suspended for the first 3 games (at least) which means no Prince for at least Clemson (that hurts), Tulane, & Western Kentucky. IF he stays straight and doesnt get into any trouble, etc. then he'll be back by the Arkansas game. By that time he should have all the rust he has off and man having him and Rolando McClain together is going to be a HUGE plus for us. at least imo, thats one of the best 1-2 LB punches in the nation.

IF, he is ready to come back from a team rules/character standpoint. Saban will decide that. Otherwise then, I would rather have someone we can depend on.

I like the sounds of this RJ. Can you elaborate?
Was this in the article?

Tough news on Prince, it was pretty much expected though.

At least it's not longer than 3 games like I thought it would be.

True, the good thing is that we get him back for the pivital Arkansas game. It's the game that tells the whole season. He may start or not, but I know he'll get some valuable PT.

Kudzu.

I caught that on the radio right after the press conference yesterday. That was basically all that was said.

The thing is RJ, the "input" you speak of is still there and it's going to remain. Placing it on Pendry doesn't include Cignetti, Burns, Williams or Saban. Our game plan is a collective game plan with everyone having a voice. The person in Applewhite's ear last season was Saban. That's who shook him up, and rightfully so.

Don't get me wrong, Applewhite had his problems with Pendry. But, it was Pendry following what he knew Saban wanted to do and Applewhite wanting to do something else.

I get the distinct impression Saban began thinking of a change in Applewhite's responsibilities (if not downright continued employment) last year in the Tennessee game when we had to call a time-out to avoid a delay-of-game penalty when we could not break the huddle in time coming off a first time-out.

Saban seemed to really lose all confidence in Applewhite at that point.

...if not sealing his fate. I was noticing "Call the damn play Major" as early as Vandy.

It was certainly disheartening hearing Coach Saban and MA were having some problems in the middle of the season. Didn't think it was much of a problem then, but it turned out MA had feelings.
