🏈 '85 Iron Bowl is playing on ESPNU right now.

Funny, I had to get out of the house for some social distancing and ended up at a bar having a few beers and caught the fourth quarter on ESPNu last night. That was my first Iron Bowl, too, went with my girlfriend (who was an aubrun tigerette recruiting hostess), along with her sister and boyfriend. Sat in the middle of enemy territory. Still one of the best ball games I've ever attended.

At first blush, it's hard to believe that was 35 years ago, but once I think about it a bit, yeah, it's been that long.

Time goes fast...then faster....

My first car was a '65 Chevy II Nova. It didn't have A/C. Second car was a '66 Chevy II, no A/C either. I think my first car with A/C was a '77 Mercury Monarch (a Ford Grenada clone), junior year of college.
Amazing....and today it would be hard to find one without.....( in the south)
And will never see "3 on the tree”again I guess...
My wrangler does have 5 speed manual though...closest we will get....

I love straight shifts. I had a '72 Maverick in college with that 3 on a tree, loved it. I've read that only about ten percent of the U.S. driving population can still drive one. My road car is an '09 Camry, 5 speed. It just turned over 370,000. Still on the original clutch. Counting two civics (229M and 190M) and a Toyota pickup (256M) - all 5 speeds - I've put over a million miles on straight shifts during my working years. Strangely enough, my only two daily drivers with automatic transmissions since college have been two restorations I put on the road - a '72 Chevy Pickup and a '77 Vette. I put 75M each on them.
