šŸˆ 5 reasons Georgia will be this offseason’s media darling

@TUSKstuff @BamaFan334 I may have gotten you two confused. Someone was giving me a little hell about Home Depot vs Lowe's a few weeks ago.

I've heard "Chaney coached Brees" more times than I can count. I see an issue with that because Brees wasn't that good of a college quarterback. He's respected for what he's done in the NFL. He's was one of your '2'fers' in college: Two TD's, one INT. Two TD's, one INT.

That said, Pitt was one of the first programs in the country to move to the spread offensive scheme. That's a Joe
Tiller coaching move, not something people point to Chaney and say, "look what he did." It's not a lot different than his time at UT where that offense in '09 was Lane's.

We did see improvement with Allen at Arkansas as he got older. Do we give that to Chaney's influence or Arkansas having two guys surpass 1000 yards on the season where one barely eclipsed that number his first year?

Bottom line with me is this is a lot like Kirby and his head coach position--I'm lacking for things to point to in favor of the Chaney factor with UGA this fall.

I guess I'm more determined to say about Kirby that if this doesn't work, it's on him. I don't see any excuses this year. He has enough assets and pretty much an unlimited supply of whatever else he needs as a program. Right now he looks a lot like Butch Jones in his decision making and I'm OK with that. But and it's a big but, if he keeps recruiting like this last class he also has an opportunity to upgrade himself to Les Miles status with talent. Is that gonna be good enough? I'm just not sure even that is a whole lot better than what Mark Richt accomplished at Georgia.

I'm more than OK with UGA having the "success" Jones has had with Tennessee. While I hold doubts, that happening may curb some of these annual love fests.

If you look at the last four years and compare the classes signed by LSU and UGA there isn't a lot of difference. LSU was ranked higher two years, UGA the other two. UGA does have a slightly better winning percentage. LSU lost to UGA the last time they played. They both lost to Florida last year, they both lost to Bama in '12, they both have suffered losses to Ole Miss over that period ...

Again, you've hit squarely upon another assertion of mine; UGA is no different today than they were when Richt was head coach--likely worse.

Probably was me!

I don't know about 10 wins!

App State- should be a W, but that Nicholls State game last year!
@ Notre Dame- likely a L
Samford - W
Miss State- L I think they struggle with Fitzgerald the QB for State
@ Tennessee- L Viles don't need a Hail Mary this time
@ Vandy- W Vandy offense will continue to struggle to find points
Missouri- W Mizzou struggling
BYE WEEK
Florida- L If Franks is indeed the QB for UF, McElwain will find success
South Carolina- Toss up!! Can USCe find continued success with Jake Bentley at QB? If so, watch out Dawgs!
@ Auburn- Toss up!! Will Kirby play it close to the vest and allow Gustav to coach the Tigers to the L or will Stidham the proclaimed messiah on the plains spell Doom for the Dawgs?
Kentucky- W but close!! Could this be the signature win for Stoops? He came pretty close last season.
Georgia Tech- Toss up!! Not only a rivalry but that damn triple option is a bitch to prepare for in a week!!!

Not a great predictor am I....but it might take more then this year...for KS to get to 10...
But UGA has better talent than UT...
Better talent then MSU..
Better then USCe...
Better then AU..
But I like KS....He will load UGA in talent...he (and wife ) are former athletes there...so he will get a little more time.. my thoughts..but we shall see..

With UGA losing two of its last three against Tech there are a lot of UGA fans who certainly count those losses.

When it comes to recruiting there is a difference in the players the two teams recruit. When it comes to the state of each program there's little difference right now (except GT fans are more realistic on what to expect.)

Yep..and that O GT run does take a toll..but load ur team with talent...and good things happen..
And UGA fans lack something...but they believe the unbelievable...lol
2002-2008 was a nice run...and they canned that HC... and he had several other dang nice seasons...

Talent alone doesn't win games! He made load the cupboard with talent BUT, will he be around to coach it? Go 8-5 again and I think his leash may be cut loose!! Some guys are great position coaches and/or coordinators but, suck hind tit as a HC. I think KS would have been cut more slack had he been coming from a lesser program as their DC rather than learning from the BEST coach in college football. Like @TerryP said, A LOT of his snafus or screw ups are things he should have learned in his 10 years under Saban.

Wish I knew what that meant...!!!!!
But...I dont.
Here's why.

You registered after the season so your balance in the Sportsbook looks like you lost 150K on games last year. The Sportsbook is turned off right now or you could see an example. We've got a weekly "pick 'em" type contest ... I'll bring it back in the fall.

It's just like a Sportsbook in Vegas ... you're given an amount of money, you bet on the games you think are the best wagers.

Agree 100......sucess is a puzzle...talent is a piece of it...but to have true sucess... you have to get the other piecesto fit...I think his leash ...as all HCs these days...is short also... but its just year 1 he finished... see how year @@ goes...
And I doubt if where he came from has any affect of "slack cutting"... he or anyother HC wouldn't be hired without some sucess intheir background..( eVen Kiffin had OC success)... I am sure...you go back and look at many many of HCs...no matter where they came from... had tough first years...Perkins, Saban, Coach Fran, Dubose, Stallings..to name some post Bryant ones...at Bama..
But time is the tell-tell... seems some are really down on KS...I for one...am not.. thanks KS for ur Bama tenure!!!!!

@uagrad93 - I usually agree with you, but going with 50+ on this one

Notre Dame? They're a joke - being at home won't help them

losing to UT? they are a DISASTER

MSU??? yeah, I know talent ain't EVERYTHING, but come on!

USC? UGA will dominate them

Tossup with AU - I agree - both hard to read

GT - yeah, who knows, but UGA SHOULD win

I'm calling 10-2 with losses to the gayturds and awbarn

If anything Kirby was given a leash longer than any other coach in D1 play last year. Hell, the University bent over for him with their policies on FOI requests.

Translated: UGA wins eight games in '17.

Every year they are forecasted to win the SEC, they win 10 games. Those years they say it's a 10 win season, we see 7-5, 8-4.

Personally, I see two SEC games where they should be favored, heavily--Vandy and UK. There's two teams UGA went 1-1 against last year. A one point loss to Vandy, a three point win versus Kentucky.

The rest look like coin flips to me. IF UGA is favored (spread,) it'll be by a slight margin. Right now, I'd take Muschamp's defense at UofSC over the offense at UGA. While UGA is returning a pair of good running backs, UofSC is returning six of their front seven along with three in the secondary.

Chaney and Roper. I'd also say it's a pretty safe bet we'll see some horrible offense that day.

Was on Woolleyal till it crashed...
This is a better forum... look forward to fall picking....maybe Ms 50+ will give me a little more time off...

Perkins was coming from the NFL and was replacing The Bear= no win situation even if he had gone 11-1.
Saban was dealing with very little talent and was cutting away A LOT of fat!!
Fran was a limp wristed "hold the rope" man that really didn't do a bad job first year.
Dubose, well he proved my point to the letter. Great position coach, was only DC for a year before being tapped to replace Stallings. He wasn't called Dumbose for nothing. His SEC title in '99 was an anomaly.
Stallings dealt with a rash of injuries on the offensive side his first season. I know that for a fact since I was a walk on on that team. We lost Siran Stacy in the opener and proceeded to lose WR after WR the next 3 weeks. We couldn't move the ball. Coach Stallings would come to the offensive meeting room and tell us to "just don't screw it up and put the defense in a bad position!"

Still....for any excuse...weak first years..and all had success inlater seasons..myonly point...and bama had better talent then...many mediocre teams they lost to...USM...ULM...etc

We saw well prepared KS was in the opener versus UNC last year. I think the Notre Dame atmosphere gets in his head. Close game I believe but Eason throws a pick to seal it.
UT does have Bitch Jones on their sideline, but UGA counters with Kirby.
Dan Mullen manages to beat someone he isn't supposed to every year, except Nick Saban. I think he pulls this one out.
USCe, did you notice how well they played when Muschamp put the 17 year old from Opelika in at QB? The kid can play and we know Muschamp will have a defense. His offense has always been AWFUL!!

It's always fun to speculate and predict here in May, but know one will know what the fall will bring, injuries, suspensions, etc. We know that these can swing a game in a hurry.

Absolutely....we are all experts..in May..and a few key suspensions.injuries...can really swing the deal..

I'm going to get back into the Sportsbook here in a few weeks after I finish some site tweaks/redesign stuff I'm been in for about a year.

It's pretty easy, not a lot of time spent, and tends to lead to some good conversations. Last season people started out with 100K in their bank and could "bet/wager" on each game. It's just like you'd find in Vegas, minus the real money, of course.

Every site has its own pick 'em. Here, it's just taken to a different level (for lack of a better description.)
