Alabama added a commitment Thursday from four-star Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley outside linebacker Christian Miller, who announced the decision on his Facebook page.

ESPN's Derek Tyson noticed the social media entry first:

Miller (6-4, 215) de-committed from Florida in May and listed Alabama as one of his favorites along with Florida, Georgia and UCLA. He's rated as the No. 2 outside linebacker in the nation by ESPN, No. 3 by 247Sports and No. 5 by Rivals.com.

"I just felt like they were the best fit for me," Miller told 247Sports. "Just looking at it from an athletic standpoint, I fit in their scheme perfect. The type of player I am is something they have a need for. Believe it or not, they're one of the schools that offers early playing time at my position. Their facilities are the top in the country. I felt really comfortable there with coach (Chris) Rumph, coach (Billy) Napier and coach (Kirby) Smart -- the whole coaching staff. The tradition is awesome. They have a lot to offer. Everything they do down there is first class."

Miller, the son of former New York Giants linebacker Corey Miller, tallied 121 tackles and 14 sacks as a junior in 2012. He becomes the 16th commitment in the Tide's 2014 class and the third linebacker, joining inside linebackers Shaun Dion Hamilton and Zach Whitley.

Spring Valley head coach Miles Aldridge said Thursday that Miller had not told him anything about a commitment. Aldridge, who has served as an assistant at South Carolina, Clemson and Arkansas, described Miller as a "rangy, long" athlete who would be a good fit in a 3-4 scheme.

"He's a stand-up type of player, can drop in coverage and can rush the passer. I think that's why he likes Alabama and they like him," Aldridge said of Miller, who just turned 17. "He's still young. He's still got a year for me and a year as a redshirt and by then he'll be a full-grown football player. He's still got a lot of growing to do."
