" A three-star senior tight end at Lafayette High School in Wildwood, MO, Scales reached his final decision on Tuesday, opting to decommit from the Crimson Tide and instead commit to the University of Missouri."

ā€œIt was really hard because of the relationships I’ve built,ā€ Scales told BlackandGoldIllustrated.com. ā€œThe time, the effort, the money put in (making visits to Alabama). It was hard. I just feel like this was the best thing for me and I want to feel wanted.ā€

I love being a gump about this right now, because SURELY this bodes well. We don't have enough room for all the 4/5 star surprises/silent commits, so we ask a couple of 3 stars that we don't need RIGHT NOW (Riley Cole - Long Snapper, [not even listed in the top 20 prospects in Alabama at any position] with Cole Mazza back, Scales, with other TEs committing and more needs with DEs and LBs, Perry- the 33rd best safety in the country (??!!), with maybe Mayden ready to come on board) to grayshirt, take some extra time, and come after fall season.

Now, I KNOW that TideStalker bemoans this, and I don't know if we'll ever get the whole story/real story about these guys, but as Jay Barker was saying on the radio this morning, when have you ever known 'Bama, or any OTHER school for that matter, to welch on a grayshirt? I think if we offer a grayshirt we are COMMITTED to that young man! Because if these guys needed to get bigger, and better, and were told that room was needed, and could they wait, I hate the timing, but if they're REALLY for 'Bama, and believers, then come in January! And learn. And get rings! And an education at a great school. And if not.... be blessed, go forth, and be successful somewhere else. Nothing wrong with these guys valuing playing time over success and championships - it's all a choice.

Is the recruiting process perfect? NO! And if some of these guys that are playing games (Davis? I mean, was he REALLY thinking seriously of going anywhere else? Wilson, perhaps?) had just committed, then some of the guys above might have known the score earlier. The whole thing is too much of a game, but if Saban is going to have to play the games, he's gonna win them.

Roll Tide!
