Most probably know I'm not a big documentary fan... I rarely ever find one that I can watch start to finish. There's a lot of really good topics and subjects out there, they just usually do a terrible job with the actual doc. One exception seems to be sports, for whatever reason. There's a lot of good sports documentaries out there. The crime ones tend to be the worst. But way too many overall, regardless of topic or subject, are skewed in one direction or another, leave out important details, etc. Also, way too many of them drag on for too long, almost always an episode too long.
Anyway, over the last week and a half, I've watched 3 (all on Netflix). Which is probably more than I've watched in the last year.
Gone Girls: I'd give it a D+. Just drug on way too long and was not strung together very well. Had to really force myself to motor through it.
Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Forrest Fenn's Treasure- A worthy subject of a doc, IMO. But again, drug on an episode too long. High point is the bug eyed redneck family who appear to be dumb as shit but don't lack any self confidence. It really peters out in episode 3 even though that is far from their intent.
The Comeback: 2004 Boston Red Sox- 3 episodes long and each one is really good. If you enjoy baseball, this is worth your time. Solid A. Wish they could have gotten a few more interviews from some NYY players, but they got the ones they needed from the Red Sox side. There were a couple of storylines in there that I had forgotten about over time, like some of the Nomar issues. Really fun, easy watch though.
