You aren't the only one on here!!!

Here's one of those confusing times...I really like Mac and i yhink talk that he will be unseated by either of the other 2 QBs is ridiculous
Here's one of those confusing times...
You've left me thinking, "he's being sardonic to make a point."
Otherwise ... the statement begs to be questioned.
What do you know about Young? I'm a Mac fan, but good lord. Young taking the position by season's end is not a ridiculous suggestion.
Look at his yards, his TD's, in a system that is based a lot like what Sark runs...in arguably one the toughest high school seasons you'll find.
I believe it was over 4800 yards. I know it was just shy of 70 TD's. In a season. 'effin Matre Dei.
TL:DR"He's not taken snap."
Against A LOT tougher competition ...
Big difference between college and high school. Any high school and any college( D1).....
Regardless of competition. Regardless period
All the guys in College have played HS (99.9%anyway). 10% of ur love MatreDe or whatever will play D-1 college. Same said for CF and NFL
Two way street, my friend. You're not giving Young credit where its been earned. But credit given where credit earned!!
From Watson to Lawrence and going into the era of DJ Uiagalelei ... Dabo is doing a good job with consistency in his QB room. Kelly Bryant was a pretty good QB in his system as well.@TerryP and @50+yeartidefan, just having this conversation emphasizes my point, no other program in college ball could lose someone like Tua and be in such great shape at that position. Saban is indeed the GOAT especially on he recruiting trail.

TL:DR
On this QB discussion...
I've come to the conclusion there are four different types of quarterbacks we're seeing today in this new offensive era a college football. What I find interesting is we've seen, at Bama, three of the four types in Saban's tenure. The fourth, we've seen Bama face, an improviser like Manziel or Mayfield.
Greg fits into the "Game Manager" role. The third, the "Pocket Passer," fits AJ perfectly. And then we've got the "Focal Point QB" which we've seen with Tua; which we've seen with several teams. I believe Young to be in that latter category; the focal point of the offense.
On these lines I also believe it's important to remember the QB's entering college today are far more mature/game ready than those as few as 10 years ago; arguably five to seven years ago. Young fits that grouping.
Lastly, an observation to consider...
Bama fans, and how Saban has handled the QB position, have been wrong, A LOT, the last few years.
The crowd that held on to the "never start a true frosh" saw that end with Jalen.
Those ready to crown Tua and send Jalen on his way were cautioned, "don't count out Jalen." We saw that story up close and personally, didn't we?
Now we're getting "I don't buy Young because he's never taken a snap" from a group that, literally, has never seen him take a snap.
In the QB world, at Alabama, if there's one absolute it's this, there are no absolutes.
Think its a little early to slap such a tag on someone who "hasn't taken a snap" or shown the ability to read Ds or be a leader. Lot more to QBing then throwing a football ....
I hope they're able to redshirt Young. I know he was willing to take a 'shirt if Tua had returned. I believe we'll all agree the ideal depth chart runs Jones, Lia/Tyson with Young handling scout team duties. We have the top overall QB coming in with a great arm, athleticism, and character. Just so happens in 2020 that the QB position has never been more important in all aspects. But experience is always important, so there is reason for both optimism and concern.

I won't be shocked if we see two different types of depth charts this season with the second "in case of injury" as the asterisk. If you remember even though AJ took a redshirt year he was the #2 guy on the depth chart IF Greg would've been hurt. I can easily see a similar situation with Young keeping his 'shirt losing only it in case of injury.
Which leads us to a Lia/Tyson vs Young battle. Odds it's a 2a and 2b with Lia or Paul being #3 leaving spring camp?
Well. Hallelujah. We r in agreementI hope they're able to redshirt Young. I know he was willing to take a 'shirt if Tua had returned. I believe we'll all agree the ideal depth chart runs Jones, Lia/Tyson with Young handling scout team duties.

They r much better prepared. 100% in agreement. Absolutely!!!!!!QBs today, like @TerryP mentioned, they come out better prepared. They do the camp circuits, 7 v 7, get respected QB coaches to tutor them, etc. I was a QB coming out of HS and when I walked into the QB room at BAMA as a walk on, I had no clue as to most of what QB coach/ OC Homer Smith was talking about. I knew very little. Granted it was 30 years ago, but the HS game and coaching the QB position have changed. I had no clue about progressions, a route tree, Didn't know where the windows were in 2 deep versus 3 deep, 2 deep man, quarters coverage, etc.
With all of that said, I look forward to the competition this Spring. Mac will be the penciled in starter, but can he hold off Young? Saban fought that urge once and it almost bit him in the ass. Will he be quicker to pull the trigger, should Mac struggle? Young is a talent!! Playing in perhaps the toughest classification and schedules in HS, he faced stiffer competition than what Tua saw on the Island.
