🏈 GAME THREAD 2018 Bowls: Games from Saturday, 12/16

Really wish Troy could have landed in a bigger bowl against a team that's decent. Actually ended up deciding to not got to New Orleans to cover it (used my ankle as an excuse but really I just wanted to go see Star Wars with my wife tonight lol).

Not sure who stole the Oregon Duck's offense but they need to file charges as soon as they get home. A very feeble beginning for Cristobal to say the least. I hadn't really kept up with Taggart's team this season but that was a very anemic offensive attempt at a football game. Bet fans are wondering what they just bought?

OR, fans wondering how much Kelly bought when he was coaching there? That's not an "if he bought," but "how much he bought." The former has already been proven.

UCLA would be wise to beef up the compliance staff this offseason. I do wonder if the Taggart thing had broken earlier if Chip would have found his way back to the scene of the crime?

They've demonstrated, in basketball at least, they recruit kids of high character.

When I think about it I don't recall seeing anything regarding Oregon changing AD's since Kelly left. Bellotti was only in that position for a year and IF I have my memory working correctly he was in the AD chair when Bama won in '09. Sooo... current AD was the same one when he got the show cause. Hrrm.

When he was hired at UCLA I paid attention to the headlines, a few of the details, but didn't bother reading about the hire in depth. I'd have to look back to see, but I'll ask. You, or anyone, recall much mention of his show cause when it was announced he was taking over UCLA?

A lot of national articles had Kelly's personal show cause in it. I was actually reminded that Oregon paid a 7 on 7 coach 25,000 to guide players to their program. The LAtimes mentioned it when he got hired but no indignation really about it. Chip has obviously evolved to the great innovator level that brought the ducks to elite status and the rest doesn't matter much.

I've watched the rankings of UCLA and they are hovering around 25th to 29th. Oddly USC is behind them at this time which is really strange and Oregon under Taggart has made their way from 10 to 13th, which is more nontypical for them. That will be interesting to watch.

Coolest thing I saw in the game, a local kid getting some carries. Boise State's Robert Mahone, watched him play for 2 seasons, believe he redshirted last year and this was his first season. At one point, SMU was trying to flip him. Not sure what happened, but an SMU degree would open up alot of doors... We also lost our HC at the same time Boise State, believe he's involved in recruiting or something along those lines.

Perhaps Jay Ajayi had something to do with it, another local kid who played there and last I looked was still lighting it up in the NFL.

Those 2 defensive TD's at the end of the 1st half was pretty awesome to see.

These two had arguably the best college football knockout fight ~10 years ago. That Boise State player thought he was gonna talk shit and push LaGarrette Blount and dude got knocked the @#!@ out. Still makes me laugh thinking about that scene. Then Blount completely lost his shit with his team and the Boise State fans.
