📝 2017 TE Major Tennison commits to Alabama

Texas is getting to be quite the connection. I guess this one is more about Charlie's exit out of Austin and the simple fact TAMU has no working knowledge of this thing they call a tight end. Glad to have this size and talent at the Capstone.

Major Tennison, four-star tight end from Bullard High School in Texas, committed to the University of Alabama on Sunday.

"I just felt so comfortable there," Tennison said. "It was like a second home. I just knew on this visit it was the place for me. I was ready to shut everything down.

At what point did he realize Alabama was the place to call home for his education and athletics?

"I really can't put a thumb on it as to when I knew I was going to Alabama," he said. "The last few weeks I have felt better and better about it. I wanted to go on my official visit and spend time with the coaches and players. I felt so confident about Alabama during my visit. I decided there was no reason to wait any longer.

"I told the coaches on Sunday about my decision. They were excited to have me as a part of the program. I am happy to get it over with. They were happy I chose the Crimson Tide. I will enroll at Alabama in January. I will not take any more visits. I am going to Alabama."

Another out-of-state program had the former Texas commitment's attention.

"Definitely Michigan." he said of the runner-up for his signature. "I was really impressed with their coaching staff, their success this year and how they use their tight ends. They were a very close second place for me. I was just more comfortable and felt at home at Alabama."

Alabama sells itself, and the coaches played a huge role for this verbal pledge.

"Obviously, the success of the program is a huge factor," Tennison said. "For me personally, it's the coaches. Coach Cristobal. Coach Napier, Coach Kiffin and Coach Saban. The relationship I have built with those four is very strong.

"I know I can take criticism from them. I know I am going to make mistakes and get yelled at. I can't get butt hurt about it. I feel so confident in their coaching abilities. It's going to be an honor to be coached by them."

Alabama's 33-14 win against Texas A&M was the first time Tennison has witnessed a game in Tuscaloosa.

"I loved it," he said. "I am not an A&M supporter by any means. It was good to see them get beat. I can respect them at the same time. Alabama proved why they are the No.1 team in the country. It was nice to see O.J. Howard have a big game.

"It was my first time going to a game there. It wass electric. Everyone was into it. There wasn't a fan out of it. Every first down you could hear the echo of 'Roll Tide' throughout the stadium. I was kind of close to the A&M fans' section. I had almost forgotten they were there.

"I definitely enjoyed all of it. The best part of the visit was the game. It was really great to see Alabama overcome some adversity. They met the challenge head on and obviously won it."

Tennison was hosted by freshman tight end Miller Forristall during the official.

"I loved it," he said. "I obviously committed. He is going to be my teammate. He is a nice guy and good player. I know I can learn a lot from him. We can challenge each other in practice and make each other better.

"I got to meet Irv Smith, and I knew Hale Hentges from a previous visit. I got to meet some recruits like Baron Browning, Stanford Samules, and Deangelo Gibbs. I knew VanDarius (Cowan). They are good players. Hopefully, with the uncommitted guys, something sticks in their mind about Alabama and they decide to come here."

The latest Crimson Tide commitment hopes to see Alabama continue to roll this season.

"Obviously, I want them to go undefeated and win the national championship again," Tennison said. "They have constant success. They have been able to continue that. Some teams get a win hangover.

"Coach Saban has those guys on point every week. It's a testament to how good he is and how good the coaching staff is. They are not complacent. I can't wait to be a part of it."
