Maybe someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard somewhere we do not have the full 25 available schollys to offer next year due to the 85 limit?

I think you are right. Brandon may be able to give the best answer but I think we will have 21 slots next year?

I would like to add; It's going to be really tough to displace USC from the #1 slot this year. The Trojans have more 5 stars this early than I have ever seen. Unless the Bush thing slows them down, they will rake them in this year.

We will do well at home though according to our resident experts.

We are currently sitting at 12 seniors on scholarship. Andre will likely leave after next season as well, so that opens 13 spots. There will undoubtedly be another round of attrition, but I think we'll be starting with 13 scholarships to give when the '09 season ends.

That's basically my thoughts as well, I see us ending up in the top 10 in recruiting this year (possibly top 5) due to the lower amount of players we can sign, and the fact USC is raking in the 5*'s. Nonetheless I can't complain, the staff is working their butt's off selling Alabama all over the Southeast, and the nation. And selling it well I might add.

Roll Tide!

Wow. I guess I didn't realize it was that low. By definition, is that a young team or what?

I hope 'dre doesn't go pro but doesn't he graduate early? That may not be good unless he pulls a Peyton Manning on us.

Yeah we're extremely limited in numbers right now. If they're on top of our board and a top ranked prospect, Coach Saban will find a spot for them. We're looking at 20 recruits max, and that might be pushing it.

Did anyone catch this? The author is Gary Lloyd and this is from his bio...

His favorite sports writers are Gary Parrish (CBS Sportsline), Woody Paige (Denver Post) and Bill Plaschke (LA Times).

He must not know much about Parrish.

Oh and I'm familiar with the bleacher report. They've been 'recruiting' writers lately, it's nothing but a bunch of amateurs. Can't be too good of a site if they liked what I've written.

These guys list Auburn and Tenn as their fav team.....

"Ben White is more than just one man. In fact he is two people. Almost like conjoined twins but without the whole thing about heads being stuck together and no blood relation.

Ben and Chris are the two people that make up the fabled Ben White. They are both college students, Ben at Auburn University and Chris at The (so important The is capitalized) University of Tennessee. When not underachieving in their classes..."

Seem like a couple of douche bags to me, reading through their comments about Alabama...I will pass on ever going back to that site.

He wrote the article that the OP posted then put this comment under it...
"for one would like to congratulate you on your recruiting national championship. I hope that works out for you."

Yeah speaking of Chris, he's the one who posted the link it looks. Also the one who sent me a link to the site on another site.

Well, if memory serves, we only had 13 spots available after this past season as well. I'm just not sure we will see a second dose of very high attrition. In other words, Saban had a plan to get 25 in for '08, I'm not sure he will plan to get more in than 19 for '09... but then again, he has surprised me before.

And another thing that might even take away from the low number of seniors leaving to free up schollies is that we might be looking at Greyshirting a couple of guys from this last class if we can't fit them in this year.

A couple of things I noticed in the article;

Tana Patrick isn't considered a BAMA lock from what I'm hearing. While Nico is more of a lock for us what I've seen and read indicates that UGA might be the leader for Patrick's services. BAMA may sign him in the end but UGA is in a strong position right now.

Also, IMHO I just don't see BAMA getting the top class in the nation this time around. Much of that is due to numbers. We just might not have the available slots to accumulate the points needed for the #1 spot. If we could sign the full compliment then it might be different.

Either way, we'll have a very good class. Enjoyed the article too. Thanks for linking that.

I agree with your second paragraph, but as for Tana... he's BAMA's to lose (as of now).

A good note about Nico. You know, he's attending Andalusia but he has a former coach that is now at Demopolis. That coach is beginning to develop a real good relationship with Coach Saban due to our recruitment of Nico and how it's being handled. Which in turn has us all over a great player coming up for the 2010 class.

A guy who is a fan of Auburn that I communicate with occasionally sent me a C&P of a thread running on one of their forums about Nico being down on Bama and was asking if there was any truth to it.

He's one of the guys I fully expect to be upgraded on Rivals to a 5* this fall.

Hey TP, down on Bama or down to Bama, hmmm?

About Nico being down on Bama. BTW, the rumor is BS.

FWIW, I suspect when he whittles down his list it'll be between Bama, USCw, and Florida. Urban Meyer has been after him pretty hard.

Coach in Demop huh? Who we talkin about Terry, we're gettin into my area when we talk about DHS. Are you talking about a player at Demop for the 2010 class, or Andalusia?
