That is a good read. Their defense seems smallish, and if I didn't still have some sugar bowl nightmares I'd think we could just run straight at them and negate a lot of their speed.

Interesting aspects of this game: if we can move the ball well on the ground and throw when we want to instead of when we have to, we will do well in this game. Also, I really expect us to shut down their running game. and make Taylor beat us throwing the ball. I've seen enough of beamer coached teams over the years to be nervous about what they might do to us on special teams.

Should the Hokies defeat Alabama in the opener, a banner season could be in store. It’s worth noting that game will be played on artificial turf and is the only game the Hokies are off grass all season long

Va Tech has an indoor practice facility just like we do with turf much like the Georgia Dome (if not the same.) I don't see how turf is really going to come into play.

i don't follow VaTech, so you are probably right. just something that caught my eye.

i did see this about their grass system, pretty cool setup: http://www.hunterindustries.com/Resources/Project_Profiles/virgina_tech.html (i remember hearing about this years ago)

edit - come to think of it, it got a pretty good test during the A&M hurricane several years ago, dang that was almost 6 years ago...where does time go???

Kyle field has that same set-up?

Forget the hurricane, Texas was slammed last September with A LOT of water.

Some of the images from Texas Tech's stadium were crazy.

This game is going to be a tough one. I do not think we will blow these guys away like Bama did to the Tayters last year. The Va Tech "D" and Special Teams are a force to be reckoned with. The "D" may be smallish, but most times smallish means fast.

I hope that out "O" line can do their job this year. I also hope G-Mac stays healthy. This game will let us know what we truly have very early in the year huh? I think our "D" will crush them! As long as G-Mac keeps his head screwed on straight, we win this one.
