🏈 13-2

In the last 30 years Alabama has won more NC than Auburn, so to say Alabama and Auburn have been pretty equal is wishful thinking. I don't agree that both Alabama and Auburn need to be good I don't care if Saban said or not. Auburn fans better celebrate this win until the beginning of next season b/c no team has depended on one player as much as Auburn depended on Cam and now that he's going pro they're going to have to come up with a good game plan. Makes a person kind of giggle when ESPN has Alabama starting #2 and the newly crowned NC starting the year at #17.

Congrats on the NC* We shall see if it holds up.

If you count finishing #1 in any of the wikipedia recognized polls it would be 17-5. Which makes Auburn look much more substantial historically and really changes almost nothing about Alabama's program historically.

Again, historically there is no comparison between the two programs national relevance. In the last 20-30 years there is very little difference.

Like Nick Saban, I agree that having two nationally relevant programs in the state is better for all of us.

So in essence disagreeing with me is tantamount to disagreeing with Saban.

it makes the gap larger, which is always better in my book, means you have more catching up to do

and remember, we were never on probation or anything to taint any of our championships, all of yours are tainted

CNS can be wrong of course. If h actually said that, then that's a prime example.

:rofl:You actually believe all that crap you're saying ,don't you? The barners are so full of it . There ARE asterisks by both you claim to have won,but one WILL be taken away and the other didn't exactly add up either and there is NO asterisk by any of ours, read on it pal. More like 13-0 if YOU want to split hairs. We will be here to take it back to t-town once again while you will be wondreing why you trusted Scam.RTR!!!

I've noticed that its only the Auburn fans who say the Cam Newton scandal isn't a big deal, but fans of EVERY other bowl subdivision team in the nation say its slimy and it would bother them if he were at their school. :headscratch: Maybe everyone except Auburn fans are wrong...

In the last 30 years you have 1 more national title, the same number of Bowl wins, 1 less Heisman winner, 1 less SEC Championship, 1 less undefeated season, 11 fewer wins overall, a 2-4 record in BCS Bowl games (or bowls that are currently in the BCS) vs. our 3-1-1 record, and 4 fewer victories in heads up play.

I'd say we're pretty even ONLY because you guys have 1 more national championship. Otherwise I'd say we were the slightly better program over the last 30 years.

But all of this means nothing over the course of the last 100 years. You guys kicked our asses for 2 decades before that and racked up 6 or 7 national titles in that span. That's something to be proud of without needing to belittle our accomplishments.

Maybe our game plan next year can be similar to the championship game this year. That was a pretty team wide effort.

And does anyone, anyone, honestly care about a projected preseason ranking 8 months before the season starts? I think we lose 18 seniors from our 2 deep. I'll take 17 as a starting point.

We didn't cheat in 1957. We cheated in 1955, got caught in 1956, and were on probation for that in 1956 and 1957. That probation did not disqualify us from winning the national championship, which we did. We were also the only undefeated team in the country at seasons end, which is when the AP awarded titles then. I see no reason for an asterisk there. (I should also point out that our 1957 title means jack squat to me personally.)

As for this year until the NCAA discovers proof of wrong doing there is no factual asterisk. Although I fully expect there to be one in the opinions of many people. Your opinion, my opinion, and the opinions of everyone outside of the NCAA offices is irrelevant.

Personally, I would consider claiming a national title in a year where you finished 20th in the AP poll, 3rd in the SEC, but 1st the Houlgate mathematical model to have an asterisk.

You can claim whatever you want. I really don't want to piss on Alabama's accomplishments, which I respect a great deal. But I probably won't silently let you piss on our season unless you make an objective or factual point. For which I'm not holding my breath.

I'm not pissing on Auburn's accomplishments. I said "Congrats on the NC". Y'all played great all year. As for how y'all played a team wide effort in the NC you and I both know that game plan won't work for very long next year in the SEC, but we shall see.

As for your comment of y'all were the slightly better program over the last 30 years if it wasn't for our one more national championship I agree with that in some regards. We struggled a bit while on probation and hiring nimrod coaches (Shula and his great conditioning program come to mind). I assure you that Alabama will never get passed up for a chance to play in the National Championship game while going undefeated like y'all did in 2004 (I think that was the year and I disagreed with it highly then and still do).

Really though Congrats on the NC and I can appreciate your excitement for the future ( Us Bama fans were that way last year and still are). I really like Chizik and am glad y'all have him, but I hope you always end up being the second best team in Alabama.

I would be fine if the Iron Bowl was a top 5 match up every year. Saban's a hell of a coach and listening to him and Meyer discuss the game was amazing. I wished ESPN had taken everyone else's mike away and just had Fowler talk to Saban, Meyer, and Herbstreet.

The only question I have about Newton being so innoncent is why did Auburn suspened him if something wasn't wrong. Then he was reinstated for the last 2 games so does that mean they played a inegigble player for the first 12 games?

My understanding is that Newton was declared eligible in the summer, by all parties, then new information surfaced which was investigated further in November.

He was declared ineligible when the NCAA informed Auburn that there were possible violations not previously known. The NCAA immediately cleared him of eligibility issues and so he played the season out. If, in the future, violations are found to have occurred then the NCAA could reverse their decision. The eligibility department ruled him eligible. The infractions group is still investigating, though they are likely just waiting to see what, if anything, shakes out of the Louder and McGregor trials.

This is.....100% correct. You're not really an Auburn fan are you?
