It's good strategy these days. The bar is obviously going a lot higher than even this amount. When you look at Aranda making north of 2 mil/year. If given the opportunities, many assistant coaches will just wander away if teams don't lock them down financially. This makes it very difficult for the smaller programs to just throw a head coach or coordinator position in front of them.

Even with all these great contracts, at Alabama, it's a feeding frenzy with other teams trying to harvest our staff relentlessly. Look at Daboll, one year at Bama and the NFL can't keep their hands off of him. Sark gets a one-game gig and the Falcon's come-a-calling. Kiffin didn't want to leave the Tide and wouldn't have unless Bama just wasn't interested in re-upping the problem child. Kiffin took the FAU job over being the OC at LSU. I think Being at Alabama under any circumstances and getting paid is like hitting the motherlode. Isn't that right Butch Jones?

Dan Enos: $200,000 first year, $250,000 second year, $875,000 through Feb. 28, 2021
I don't know the final specifics but do know that in January of '17 Enos signed a contract with Arkansas for 800K in his first year. He'd have been paid 900K this season if he was still there. That contract's expiration date was June of 2020. Of course we know Bielema was fired in November so I can only assume these numbers reflect pay he's still receiving from Arkansas.

Is Cochran the highest paid S&C coach in the country?
Third in the nation behind Iowa and Ohio State before the raise, now just behind Iowa.

How weird is it that Iowa has the highest paid S&C coach in the country?
I'd have to look it up again to see which sport he works. He may be their wrestling coach. I can't recall. Before the raise Cochran was only about 10-15K behind the Ohio State coach. If I'm remembering this correctly it was USA Today that put the list out just like they have for head coaches salaries.
