🏈 1-AA Georgia Southern - Really?!

Well, if our boys were hootin' and hollerin' about the Ok. State loss last night, they are playing today like they think the BCS #2 will be dropped in our laps. Win or lose, at the start of the 4th quarter, 1-AA Ga. Southern already has scored more points than any other team this year and have dropped 270(!) rushing yards on us. Option offense or not, a 1-AA school has scored 21 and rushed for 270+?! Unbelievable.

I would have thought that after the Ok. State loss (to a Division 1 school, BTW), our guys would have been on fire to show that we are deserving of the #2 spot and to ensure that Oregon doesn't jump us. Now, the only way Oregon doesn't jump us is if they lose to USC.

I know we had some injuries up front on defense, but that's just an excuse. Ga. Southern has run all over our vaunted defense today and that's not good no matter how much anybody sugar coats it. I'm quite sure some will call this thread complainy or something and that's fine, perhaps it is too whiney. I'm just very disappointed that our guys have played this game like they think the BCS #2 is entitled to them or something.

I don't think it's that bad. It won't look great to sportswriters or the computers, but watching the game, we look great. Georgia Southern, in my opinion, is just playing some things we haven't seen this year. Two of Georgia Southern's scores were on fluke plays. (Kickoff return and a long pass play)
Nothing to be concerned about but to each his own!

Just keep winning and we'll get to the national championship.

I really appreciate that input as we weren't able to watch on TV - we had to listen to it on the radio. I just thought after OK St. lost, our guys would be on fire. Maybe it sounded worse than it looked.

Hopefully, they are just reserving that fire to really stomp our friends on the Plains. I hope we really lay the wood on Auburn next week and they really look at that as a payback game - unlike LSU.

Perhaps, the Oregon-USC game will be close enough that they don't jump us - I hope!!

'65, you really have no clue how good GSU really is. They are strong. They are for real & will make a real push for winning the championship. I had a real concern about this game & I don't care that we are Alabama, if last nights game proved anything is that the game is won on the field & it has to be done every time. Living in GA & my mom having her doctorates from there... they could've cared less that they were playing 'Bama. That is why they played hard the entire game. Not once did they just give it up. I think this game is exactly what 'Bama needed.

Ga. Southern is 1-AA. We are not. Period.

PS - The Citadel held them to 14 points. Appalachian State held them to 17. They put 62 points on... Tusculum; 48 on... Presbyterian College. Am I supposed to be impressed? Rationalize how "strong" they are all you want. We had the #1 defense in the entire nation and you come back with, "they are strong." Get real, bro.

I am real bro. They scored 14 points off a kick-off return & an long TD run. They are both good teams. Get over yourself.

No offense guys but we have not been a pushover, when running our offense, since 1997 which was the last time we were shutout.

Bama will be fine once you get back to defending regular basic pro style SEC offenses.

We did the same thing to Florida State, Auburn, Colorado St, Oregon St, Georgia and more.

We just somehow never manage to put one away with a Win.

GATA EAGLES! To Hell With Georgia!

Tip my cap to GSU for being who they are.

A small Air Force, Navy, and Georgia Tech have made a living throwing curveballs at teams for years. That Offense is extremely difficult to prepare for in a week if you have not faced it before, regardless of who you are. That was a well schooled, game-hardened team...by no stretch of the imagination your typical D-II team.

For those who only see "D-II" this will look bad. For those that know, this will not be surprising...except for the point 14 points on improbable plays, but no less earned by GSU)

Again, nice job GSU.

I hate to be "That Guy" but WE ARE NOT D-II

North Alabama, Valdosta State = D-II

Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State = D-I (Championship Subdivision) once known as I-AA

Alabama & Auburn = D-I (Bowl Subdivision) once known as I-A
