According to this bleacher report we are one of the very young teams in the NCAA to play freshmen. Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, LSU, Nevada, Penn State, South FL, aTm, USC, and Virginia are the top ten teams.

this makes me look at our team this year in a different light. If we win out we will accomplish something very great. However our future looks so bright we need to wear shades.

They've got the list wrong if you ask me. Most of these guys aren't getting meaningful playing time in their position. I would only put 3 on the list as it stands in this order, Robinson, Brown, and Scott...just based on snaps. Then Evans, Hand, Jones, and Humphrey.

What does impact mean in his article, I'd only put 3 of them as impact players - Robinson, Brown, and Scott...but I'd be willing to put Evans in that list as well.

Top impact true freshmen: CB Tony Brown, LB Rashaan Evans, DE Da'Shawn Hand, CB Marlon Humphrey, S Laurence Jones, OT Cameron Robinson

Yah, Marlon has played in a couple of games.

I'd have rather seen him 'shirt, but considering how we were getting dinged up in the secondary (and how badly we were banged up last year) for him to get some reps is understandable.

I could have sworn I'd seen Marlon in the game, but I keep reading articles, including one this one below listing him as one of the guys in line for a redshirt. This article even mentioned him in specific as well as including him with the list of all the others. Not sure where these guys get their info. I'll try to post the Casagrande article I read last.

An article earlier this week listed him as yet to play and eligible for a redshirt. I don't remember seeing him. The cumulative season stats show no statistic (tackle) by him. I haven't checked the game participation for every game, but I did check FAU as the most likely game he'd have appeared in and he wasn't shown as having participated. With some of our injured DB's back now, I don't see him breaking in - got to wonder if Coach Saban was thinking of him, at least in part, when he was talking about younger kids not playing and being frustrated.

EDIT: here's the article (it could be wrong, but I knew I read it recently): http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2014/10/nick_saban_chats_with_young_al.html
