Lexington, KY— The Southeastern Conference beings its 2013 Women's Softball Tournament this Wednesday with the Kentucky Wildcats hosting the action from John Cropp Stadium in Lexington.

The SEC, once again, enters post season play with a large number of teams considering among the best in the nation. Seven of the 10 teams participating are currently ranked in the top 20 in the Collegiate softball RPI rankings. Alabama, ranked 7th in that index comes in as an eight seed in the tournament.

Opening round action will feature the Tide as they take on the Aggies from Texas A&M. First pitch is scheduled a little after 4PM EST and will be broadcast live on ESPNU. The Tide won two of three in their series with the Aggies at the end of March in College Station.

8th seed, wow.

I haven't seen this weeks poll yet, but going into the weekend they were still ranked 7th in the coaches poll and 8th in the ESPN/USA softball poll.

they have been struggling as of late, they need to get another pitcher to help out next year

Jury hasn't developed as I had hoped she would and I can't help but wonder if Triana is still dealing with the back issues she had back in the USA team play last year.

The few games I've seen I've wondered about the timely, clutch hits we lacked. Heck, last night we had the bases loaded and couldn't get them across.

One thing I'd be willing to bet on was every team on our schedule spent the summer studying Jackie.

Still not getting the timely hitting we need.

A crazy stat I didn't put together...7 of 12 losses by one run. That's a team teetering on the edge of accomplishing something, but can easily fall the other way.

Pickett Fences. The TV show in the what, early 90's? William Skerritt played the sheriff...this A&M coach, Jo Evans, could pass for the lady who played his wife in the series.
