🏈 With the NFL draft coming up, which school do you think has the most 'busts?'

As often as we see Bama criticized for draft prospects that are busts when they reach the next level, where does the Tide rank among all the schools in D1?

Would you believe in the top five ... for the fewest? It's just another example of why you don't believe the narratives pushed by the 'talking heads.'

Florida leads the pack...

Florida is the best school in the country at producing NFL draft busts

Would be cool to see who the scouts were for these "busts"...seems to me the NFL needs to do better homework in certain regions.
These busts can't be called busts yet, can they?

Trent? Maybe. That story isn't finished.
Dre? Again. Time left on that one.
Ro? What's he just signed for ... four, five mill?

On a different note, slightly, it goes to show one of the most difficult evaluations made in football is at the quarterback position—whether it's college or the NFL.
You would think a NFL team could evaluate a players dedication to play or a dedication to party. Maybe they thought Johnny would mature and take it serious, so they took a chance.

Even if Trent does turn it around and become a good NFL back, he will still be seen as a bust. He was taken in early first round and failed with three teams. Favre was a bust for the Falcons, even though he did well in GB.

For the most part I believe they do. I don't follow personnel decisions like NFL fans. From my perspective, some address choices as if it's crap shoot—Johnny and Jameis threw up red flags. The later may work out—the former was what we all suspected in the first place.

So, who are the 5?

1) Dee Milliner
2) Trent Richardson
3) Rolando McClain - kind of like Bamachine said about Trent - considered a bust because he was out of football, then suspended, etc - but doing well for Dallas

4) Dre Kirkpatrick (bust because he's only an occasional starter as a 1st round pick?)
5) James Carpenter, maybe? But if so, he actually started 9,7,10,13, and 16 games respectively over the last 5 years....

I really only see 3 - I get the point about McClain.... but even Dre is a stretch - he is on the field a lot, plays a LOT in the nickel package - disappointing to the Bengals, maybe, for a 1st round corner pick but a BUST??? And Carpenter a bust? Doesn't make sense....

Maybe Andre Smith? He hasn't been that franchise Left Tackle that Cincy wanted with the #6 pick, but again, not a BUST... '09 and '10 he was injured, didn't play much. Career starts since then have been 14,16.15.9 (injury). and 14 respectively.

Since 2000, the other #1s are Shaun Alexander, Chris Samuels, Kareem Jackson, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Marcel Dareus, Donta Hightower , Mark Barron, DJ Fluker, Chance Warmack, CJ Mosely, Haha Clinton-Dix.

Barron, maybe? Not a great fit in TB's defense, he still started 16, 14, and 7 games the 1st 3 years, averaging 5 tackles/assists. Didn't play much the 4th year for St Louis, and ABSOLUTELY tore it up last year, playing in all 16 games, starting 12, and averaging 7.25 combine tackles/assists. All Pros E Berry and T Matthieu averaged 3.8 and 5.4 respectively.

Thoughts? Anyone?

I've always thought the bust thing was kind of dumb.

The NFL works on a what have you done this year mentality because of ESPN, NFL Network, etc. At least that's what I've noticed the last several years. If the media thinks they're great then NFL think so too.
Look no further than Clowney. Nothing he did in college would've made me make him a first round pick let alone a top pick. But, the media loved him, so NFL teams started to. Is he bust?

I consider scouts to be busts not the athletes.

Part of that with Barron is because he moved from S to LB. LB always have higher tackle numbers. Not disputing that he put on a show in his new position.

That is why the NFL is such a hit or miss proposition. Many players that end up with the bust label may have ended up as an All-Pro right away with a different team. Some team schemes work better for some players.

Scouts and teams are mostly idiots. I knew Trent was not a complete back when he was drafted high and I knew he was missing the most important ingredient for most NFL teams, that was his lack of field vision. The only way he would have really succeeded out of the gate is to go to a team that focused on run blocking over pass blocking, something that does not exist in the NFL these days. Hopefully he has focused on that after his failures.
