Would it be wise to move Terrence Cody to the offensive line and allow Fluker to start on the defensive line?

Since Fluker is so fast for a big guy, I figure he'd be great for the pass rush.

Cody isnt used for pass rushing, he is used to make a traffic jam in the middle and force teams outside to beat us with the run where we have free roaming LB's to seal the edges.

From what I have read guys like Ming are going to give us some more options for pass rushing which wont effect Cody or Chapman in the middle and still allow them to clog up holes.

Fluker + possibly Massie= bookends for the OL. Let Cody be Cody and make it nearly impossible to run the ball up the middle. Factor in the potential of Kirkpatrick to shut down a receiver one on one and you create a good situation to not only let guys rush off the corners but also let our LB pop through the gaps as well.

5 reasons why it won't happen:
1. Cody is too good to move.
Cody was projected as a first-rounder at NG by one of ESPN's Draft Experts Dejure. We have no one else that can do what he does, on the level he does. Heck, no one has anyone who does.

2. Not enough experience.
Fluker spent last season playing OL, Cody was at NG. As odd as it sounds there is more experience, more continuity, with the true Freshman Fluker at OL than with Cody. A switch would mean having no recent experience at both positions.

3. Cody would not go for it.
Knowing that you were going to be a multi millionaire when you turn pro as a NG, would you have come back if you even thought the coach was going to experiment with your playing time? Sure, Saban could try to force the issue, but what message wold that send to future players (i.e. risking Cody's shot at the pros when Cody did us a favor in coming back)?

4. Apples and Oranges.
Both have great size and strength, but its Fluker's speed that has you thinking DL. That speed would have DJ playing DT not NG. Putting DJ in the middle to clog a hole that is a foot to either side negates Fluker's speed. Heck, Cody can fall down to the left or right and do more than most at NG.

5. Cody fills holes.
If you were a RB, would you want his big butt in your way every play. Lord, you'd run yourself silly trying to reach daylight. :lol:

Cody is fearsome at the nose but I think he hasn't reached his potential. Evidently he has not impressed CNS with his pass rush and his stamina. If he is only good for rush stops, he is not even a factor against the spread and or no-huddle. I think he still needs to lose about 40lbs of fluff to be helpful for more situations. I don't think he is NFL material yet.

He is NFL material as we speak. Losing 40+ pounds would take some of his effectivness away from being a run stopper and it's no sure thing that he would be a good pass rusher. He's a NG anyway, their job is to take away the middle. No one really expects the NG to get a ton of pressure on the QB, that should come from the edges. In any passing situation our entire DL package changes anyway.
