| BSB/SB šŸ„Ž With 2-0 Sunday shutout, Tide wins fifth consecutive series against LSU in Tuscaloosa

Congrats ladies on the win. Looks like a little more batting practice this past week. In the first game of the Auburn series last week Bama had 9 hits and then had a total of 9 the next 2 games, which they lost. In the first game against LSU 7 hits. Maybe the bats will stay hot. We shall see. RTR.

Time to move on and watch something else. This is a total embarrassment. Like last week against the barn. Win the first game and then lose the last 2 Bet Ally Shipman wishes she had stayed at TennesseešŸ˜³šŸ˜³

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ā€“ Alabama softball could not overcome an early deficit Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium, as LSU won game two, 6-1, to even the weekend series heading into Sunday's finale.

Alabama (35-16, 11-9 SEC) fell behind in the top of the first as LSU (38-12, 11-9 SEC) scored four runs on five hits to start the game. The Tigers added two more in the third to make it a six-run game before the Crimson Tide started to threaten in the bottom half of the inning. Back-to-back walks put two on base with one out for the top of the order, but a groundout and a baserunning miscue in the next at-bat quickly put two outs on the board and ended the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Bailey Dowling erased the shutout with a two-out solo home run. LSU stranded two runners on base in both the fifth and sixth innings before going down in order in the seventh, as Alabama faced the same five-run deficit in the home half of the seventh. The Tide got the leadoff batter on but that was all as Alabama could not scratch another run across.

Dowling's home run was her eighth of the season, three of which have come in the last seven games. Lauren Esman (4-3) took the loss in the circle.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy

"Give a lot of credit to LSU, they came out and played well in all three phases of the game. Their starting pitcher had a great game, they hit the ball well, and they played great defense behind her. Those three phases are the key to winning a high-level softball game like we had out there today. We were 0-for-3 in those phases and they were 3-for-3."

We seem to be 0-3 a lot when Montana doesn't pitch and sometimes when she does. Why? At this point, even if we get an all star, greatest freshman pitcher of all time next year, we're looking at the same situation. We have evolved into the Einstein theory of Insanity, IMO.

Until a coaching change is made or the current coach catches up with todayā€™s game the decline of the softball program will continue. This has not been a good year for Alabama softball but next year is going to be UGLYā€¦.UGLYā€¦.UGLY..

Been said a 1000x now, but I do wonder what this team would look like right now with a very solid (and consistent) #2 like Kilfoyl. They had a good point during the game today that Murphy will need to manage Montana's innings a bit going forward to have her 100% in the regionals when we will have to win her games... That gets tricky in the SEC tournament.... Would be really nice if UA can grab that #4 seed and get an extra day off... but that may be tough. Would help if Tennessee could knock off Arky tomorrow.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ā€“ Alabama softball clinched the weekend series over LSU with a 2-0 shutout Sunday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium.

Alabama (36-16, 12-9 SEC) has now won five-straight SEC series over LSU (38-13, 11-10 SEC) in Tuscaloosa, stretching back to 2008. The Crimson Tide took the early lead Sunday over the Tigers in the bottom of the first courtesy of a solo home run from Ashley Prange. She drove in another run in the bottom of the third with an RBI groundout to make it 2-0 and the two-run lead proved enough for Montana Fouts (20-8) and the Alabama defense as LSU was held out of the run column for the second time this weekend.

The complete-game shutout was Fouts' second of the weekend, fanning nine batters in Sunday's win with just two hits and one walk allowed. The nine strikeouts improve her season total to 277, which ranks 10th on the Alabama single-season records. Her single-season high of 349 from 2021 ranks third, making Fouts the fourth Tide pitcher to have two or more seasons ranked in the top 10. Prange's home run was her team-leading 13th of the season, and the game was her team-leading 11th multi-RBI game of the season.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy

"Montana [Fouts] just knows how to get into the zone. We all saw it her face that it was going to be hard to beat her. It is fun to watch. I'm so glad that we had 12,000 people out here this weekend and to shut out a team twice like LSU is really hard to do. It shows a lot about Montana, but also shows a lot about [Ally] Shipman and Lance [McMahon] and how great of a job they do. We knew that it was going to be an adjustment with a new pitching coach; Stephanie [Van Brakle-Prothro] was here for 11 years and they were used to her and the game she called. Sometimes it takes a little time for a coach and the pitching staff to get used to each other. Overall, it was so much fun to watch today, Ashley [Prange] with two big RBIs and a home run was great."

Only chance Bama has to even win a couple
of games in the SEC tournament and regionals is have MF on the mound. She will probably run out of gas at some point. Murphy has to use her to even be competitive because other teams scoring 2-3 runs has about a 90% chance of winning the game with Bamaā€™s lack of offensive production.
