unfortunately coach McElwain appears to be headed out as long as an opportunity worth having as a head coach arises. He would be a great fit at Colorado.

other than thati don't think so. we don't have as much of a coaching problem as we do personnel so i hope everyone stays put. Alabama needs a few more horses on both sides of the LOS to make a run in 2011or 2012.

my expectations for 2011 are about what we had this year....yes our defense will be more experienced but we do lose a lot at the QB spot....and others. im figuring on a 10/2 season and then 2012 having a banner year again. i really havent looked to see what we lose in 2011 so far though....just my gut feeling.

McIlwain doesn't seem to be at the top of Colorado's wish list. If he wants to be a HC and gets an offer he likes I wish him well.

If I was interviewing McElwain for a head coaching job, I'd be interested to hear the answer to a few questions.

So, your Heisman Trophy winner from last year, under your offense, had how many 100 yard games?

During the second half of the Auburn game, just exactly why could you not move the ball? You do have Julio Jones, right? You have a senior quarterback who was undefeated until this year, right?

Mr. McElwain, have you ever heard the phrase "resting on your laurels"? Do you think that phrase applies to you?

Have you been contacting other schools recently and neglecting your coaching duties at Bama?

I don't think I'd hire him. Just my own opinion.

i wish we could have moved the ball better in the second half against auburn, too. but it is pretty obvious that the offense is not the reason alabama has the other 2 losses this year. we couldn't stop SC from having their way with us and our D made a horribly inadequate LSu offense look like gangbusters.

IMO, auburn shot themselves in the foot in the first half with their scheme. they made adjustments in the second half and aired it out against our secondary which was wise. we had no answer for that, just like we had no answer for SC passing game.

we do have some physical problems on the offense which can't be remedied by coaching. run blocking is subpar. i don't think you can fully blame Coach Mac for our guards getting spanked routinely in the iron bowl. this problem will also not be remedied next year... though i think the pass blocking could be better and we'll arguably be as good or better in the passing game depending on who goes to the NFL.

as another poster earlier stated... i think Bama will look similar next year as they do this year with maybe a little improvement on the D-line and experience in the secondary and LBs. so next year "should" be as good or maybe a notch better than this year.

Don't know if it s true, but here's my next question. Do you all think CS is shutting it down or is coach mac doing it? 300yds passing inthe 1st half to a lump of sh!t in the 2nd half....its one or the other...so what do you all think?

with as much control over everything as saban has its hard to believe that it is coach mac doing it on his own. which could be why he has been shopping for different gigs. he wants to run what he wants to run.

In response to CNS telling McElwain to shut it down in the 2nd half. I doubt that very seriously against the Barn. I did get the impression against Penn State though and maybe against Florida.

I think the guard play will improve next year. Another year of experience and in the weightroom will only help. Plus, going through 3 weeks of bowl practice and Spring practice can't hurt them either. Barrett Jones will be back too. Face it, we put too high expectations on young kids with relatively NO experience.

I too would like to hear the answers to those questions, but you have to admit that the answers are irrelevant...just excuses. This is what they would not be asked, because any answer would be naming that thing that he (in part) failed to resolve in time.
"What did you learn?" would be a better question.

Just from listening to Coach Saban talk about how he invisions the offense, he sounds like Spurrier. As a proffessional though, I am sure Saban realizes his specialty is D and not O, thus I would think he inputs very little opinion into in on gameday and chooses to save it for gameplanning.

This line of thought began last year, when he talked about going down "Guns Ablazing" and killer instict and what not, the offense runs counter to that philosophy at times. Thus, I think a lot of it is McElwain doing it, because heck, he doesnt like Auburn very much anyway.

Well put, and like lipless says, "That a lot better un what I had."

I just wonder if Ingram was really all that healthy all year, guys. I feel for him and have even more respect for him, if that's even possible, if that was the case. If that is the case, however, I have much less respect for the coaches who allowed him to play being fully aware of his limited capabilities.

I do have the utmost respect for a coach who works like Saban, and if I'm being realistic and not dreaming up some conspiracy those coaches have got to want to win awfully bad. They are doing what they think is right during the heat of the moment. It's not easy when things are going a hundred miles an hour and decisions are demanding attention five at a time. But doggone it, I bought the hype at the beginning of the season too that this was going to be a buzzsaw of an offense. I'm disappointed like the rest of you. LBS, you are right, and it is irrelevant... those just are excuses at this point. It's hard to swallow. Maybe next year. If it was youth and inexperience it will pay dividends next year because it seems like we have the talent.

Hey TheChief, we all bought the hype....including The Entire offensive Lineup! They were all told over and over they were the best offense Bama has ever had or seen! And maybe they were talent wise....the problem was they decided the hype was good enough for them and didn't care to go out and prove it and put it in the record books!
