Forgive me if this offends anyone, as I shop at Wal-Mart all the time for my groceries, but why on earth are we having a showing of the trophy at both Ttown and G'dale Wal-Marts (of all places)? I can think of some better places than Wal-Mart to display the trophy and let peolpe get their picture taken next to it.

My take on it was Wal-Mart sponsors the BCS and has rights to do this and there is money to be made with photos and folks visiting their store to see it and this is not a UofA thing, but I could be wrong and if so think this is stupid at best.

It's my understanding that the trophy will be on display at multiple locations in due time. Wal-Mart just happens to be one of the sponsored stops. Embarrassing, but who cares in the end, just embrace the "redneckness".

Why are there deleted posts? PM me if you wish to discuss.

I was just curious as to why it was Wal-Mart but the sponsorship was about all I could think of too.

No, nothing to hide or PM you about. I simply decided to not rock the boat and retracted my statements solely on my own advice.

I've rocked enough boats online.

The Walmart in Tuscaloosa has a specific Alabama shop set up to where you buy merchandise from that store pertaining to Alabama gear they will set aside $5 from every product that is put into a fund given to injured Alabama players.

It's that and the fact that the Tuscaloosa Walmart does have a sponsorship deal with the Alabama Athletic department where they will have players come in from time to time to do autographs.

I have no problem with the display of the NC trophy at Wal-Mart. And, while Altie may have deleted his remarks because he apparently thought they were incendiary - I didn't think so. I happen to agree with them for the most part. Some folks like to trash Wal-Mart and somehow feel ashamed of having ever shopped at one. I think it's great that the trophy will be on display - like someone else mentioned - in a place where which is easily accessible by most and doesn't cost money to get into. I think it's great.

Regardless of how anyone feels about Wal-Mart, I'm being told this is a sponsorship deal and would have been displayed at Wal-Marts in Texas had UT won.

Nothing the University has any say over.

I figured this would bring much delight to our lil' brother over in Opelika. I came across this on their board. I got a kick out of the realism the poster had.

Seriously, where would Auburn University set up a celebration to show the trophy if we were fortunate enough to win?It would not be at Wal-mart. Maybe at the stadium or the student center or the hotel/conference center or the museum or the athletics center or the alumni center. I seriously believe that UAT does not want their redneck fans to defile their campus.
You know, the thing that kills me about those morons is the fact that time after time I read about just how redneck Alabama's fanbase is, like Auburn's isn't?!?!

The thing that kills me is the fact that they'll probably never get to know where their school would display a newly acquired National Championship trophy!!!
