šŸˆ Why Teams Playing Bama Are Allowed To Hold

Does anyone have an opinion ?

I saw several obvious holds last night, and a few more this morning that simply can't be missed by an officiating crew. Several holds that literally tugged at jerseys, and turned players shoulders. The easy kind to call. The obvious kind. The kind you see from the nose bleed sections.

I dont want to sound like a LSU fan, but damn... enough is enough already. Call the game both ways !

Last Season Alabama’s opponents were flagged just 58 times for 471 yards. Not only were those totals the fewest of any Crimson Tide team under Nick Saban, but also the fewest in college football last season (without even factoring in the number of games played, 15).

If those same teams had been called for their average number of penalties they would have been flagged 86.8 times against Alabama.

The lack of one penalty in particular raised the eyebrows of Crimson Tide fans. Alabama’s opponents were flagged for holding only once during the final eight games (Florida in the SEC Championship Game), and three times all season.

Moreover, Washington and Clemson both had just three penalties in the College Football Playoff games, with the Tigers recording none in the second half of the College Football Playoff national championship game.

I’m really not too concerned with the holds because they happen. Every fan base complains about that BUT, I saw several blocks in the back that allowed Fitzgerald to make several first downs. Our d would have been off of the field. The stripes helped them score at least one td.

I am researching the game now while I think our lines are still playing soft there was some crazy holding not called. I don' remember a holding call either way for the game. The issue I have is that it took us till the 4th quarter to figure it out.

Last year with the best pass rushing D-line in our history to not lead the league in holding calls forced was criminal.

I do believe the refs deep down feel like they are making the game more fair by allowing everyone to hold us every game. I do wish someone should say something and point it out to the Sec and NCaa offices

Thanks for bringing this up. I was telling my buddy about the stat from last year during the game last night. He didn't believe me. 3 holds all year when playing the best D-line in the college ranks? It doesn't even pass the smell test.

And there were 3 obvious holds that we saw last night. One instance Buggs was coming up behind the QB as he rolled away from him and the O-lineman had his arm around his neck holding him. Ended up passing for a 1st down. Rediculous. S aban should submit an inquiry on it to the SEC.

I don't like to whine about officiating, but this is absolutely true! It makes no sense at all that every team we play somehow decides not to hold our 5-stars all game long. Like the other poster said, it seems to me like there is some background intention to help level the playing field or something. Either way it's so obvious it's insane.
