šŸˆ Why should Army count as a P5 opponent for SEC?

Interesting topic, I hadn't really thought about it.

I would rather the SEC ban scheduling of the FCS teams and stick with FBS. There are a few exceptions I'd be willing to make for the FCS teams, but it would only be 1-3 teams. Once we have this solved, then we should worry about playing Service Academies. I think Air Force is the better of the 3 teams and should get more opportunities before Army and Navy.

the SEC will recognize a game against Army in the same way it would a game against Ohio State, Texas, USC or Florida State.

Better way to put that is Army is recognized on the same level as a school like Kansas...as one example.

Did you notice the author makes a note about the ACC not recognizing Army, but fails to mention they include BYU (which still isn't a part of the "other five.")

Suppose one scheduled your non conference foes as Wake Forest, Illinois, Kansas and Colorado for this season. That would be four teams from the power five conferences, but it would be a lot less difficult than say the three service academies and BYU. There has got to be a better way to look at this.

Two in our conference you could have added to the football list :)

Navy has been more successful than Air Force and Army here in the last 8-10 years.

South Carolina and Clemson meet this requirement by playing each other annually.

Ditto Florida and FSU.

Tough games, and a real chance of either team winning.

You could just as easily meet the requirement by playing Kansas home and home every year.

Definitely some unintended consequences.
