🧑‍🍳 why is five guys so expensive 😳

Friend of mine worked in the grocery business back during our high school days. He said those "deals" you see like the get 3 8oz cans of whatever for $1 would sell like hotcakes and they couldn't keep it on the shelves, while 1 24oz can of same product for $1 would set there and collect dust. Making folks believe they're getting a deal. :)

I used the same type of story as a closing example on sales pitches.

The best thing about Five Guys is the "free" peanuts... at least with those, you can feel like you've recouped a $1 from the overrated and overpriced bag of burger and fries (though the cajun fries aren't too bad). Not sure if they still serve the peanuts or not... been a long while since I've eaten at one.

A lot of people say it's over-priced crappy burgers. But I like their food. I've never had a bad burger from any of the several I've eaten at. And if it's good, I don't mind paying extra for it.

They’re a little pricey but the burgers are good. Better than any “cheaper” burgers for sure.

You can probably get about 12 cheese Krystal's for about the same price as a Five Guys burger and fries. On most days, I'd take the dozen tiny steamed burgers. But, I'd also argue that Five guys sits more on the restaurant side of the aisle, not with the fast food places. It's somewhere in between I guess, but definitely a step up over fast food.

This made me hungry for Krystal's... I like to grab a sackful from there about once a year... and it's been about 3 or 4 since I remember doing it.

It's the most expensive burger I've eaten without a beer by my side. I've mentioned it before, but the All-American Cheeseburger at Buffalo Wild Wings is a pretty good deal. And I drink a beer with it.

Those free nuts, you pay for them in the long run!

The Alex’s Santa Fe burger at chilis is pretty damn good (really the only thing I like at chilis). My dad likes chilis regular cheese burger, so I take him every so often.

Oh and the Nashville hot fried cheese sticks are a guilty pleasure I partake in.

If the recipe calls for 8oz, why buy 24oz only to let 16oz go bad in the refrigerator? Even if you used some of the leftover 16oz, you’ve lost the freshness of the product.

Krystal's, eaten there only 2 or 3 times in my life and don't plan on adding to that. Feel like I may as well just buy 12 rolls and put some mustard and onions on them. Makes me think of the "where's the beef " lady when I hear about there or white castle.

I believe he got the story a little screwed up. I've heard if you saw 3 for $1 on the end cap and four for $1 on the aisle and you saw someone trying to figure out which to buy...what would you think of them?

Basically, what he was saying was if people wanted 24 oz. they would buy the three 8oz for a dollar instead of the one 24oz for a dollar because in their minds, 3 cans are more than 1 even though you're buying the same quantity for the same price. They don't bother to check how many ounces are in the cans. It gives the illusion they are getting a deal, so they'll buy it.
