| FTBL Whoa!!!!! K-State coach per ESPN

I guess K-State folks decided to keep if in the family. ESPN just mentioned that Bill Snyder will return as head coach as Kansas State. Isn't Snyder like.. 124 years old now?

He did a great job in his first rodeo with the program and you can't give the guy enough props considering K-State isn't a traditional power and has a lot of the same recruiting problems as programs like Mississippi State or Washington State. But does he really have the drive to do it all again?

Maybe the admin there figured it was better to bring back Snyder than to hire a coach that might....oh I don't know......give out private medical information about his players to the highest bidder? :| Sorry Francis.

I'm sorry, but home boy is 70 years old. Gary Patterson is a K-state alum and the job was his according to rumors, but the AD shot it down. If you could hire Gary Patterson I say take the guy. It is crazy IMO to give it back to Snyder at this point.

Snyder at his present age seems more like a caretaker coach, someone to renew the confidence of the fan base until they find a long term solutuion. Like Porkchop said, this is a tough place to recruit to, and not many aspiring coaches would regard it as anything other than a stop off along the way.

someone catch me up, when was Snyder last the coach at KSU? when/where was his last coaching gig period?

I'll go out on a limb and guess he did pretty good out there in the forst go 'round?

He retired in '05 from K-St. He did a pretty good job considering it was K St.

They said he was rather pissed @ the media for announcing his return before he had informed his friends.

He began at K-State in 1988 and I beleive coached there up until about 2003 or 2004? Somewhere in there. He spent a number of years at K-State and made the program relevant. Not sure if you could consider them a national power or not, but they definately a regional power and enjoyed a good deal of success under Snyder. School's first ever #1 ranking was under him and they routinely won a ton of games most years and played in some pretty good bowls.

As a recruiter he's noted for his reliance on JUCO players, much like Sherrill used to do at State.

Players he's coached include Mark Simoneau, Michael Bishop, Martin Grammatica, Terrance Newman (Dallas Cowboys), Derren Sproles (S.D.), and Quincy Morgan.
