Just because it's never been done doesn't mean it never will happen. Yeah Im glad we dont play Thursday games but IF we win out through Auburn we are pretty much in the NCG so something to celebrate.

The only good that would come out of it would be the idiots who tried would get their skulls cracked by the TPD.

I don't see anything wrong with tearing down the goal post after something BIG(not every game but beating Auburn would be a big deal). People say ppl could get hurt, well noone forced them to get out there and if its your choice and you get hurt its your fault.

You are only 21, so probably don't realize this... but ALABAMA does not tear down goal posts. ALABAMA doesn't even play on Thursday nights.

Some of us 21 year olds carry that old school nature. :roll:

The problem that I have is that we're Alabama man. When we step on to our own field, we're not expecting a upset...we're expecting to win. I can't imagine the last time we've been major underdogs in Tuscaloosa, not to mention ever wanting to tear down the goal posts. That's just not what our University is about at all, you know?

Would you go throw rocks into the windows of the Football Building after the win too? How about setting the oak trees ablaze on the Quad? Why stop at the goal posts?

It is really no different. It has just become accepted over the years by teams who's fans have a loser mentality. Try doing it once and explaining to the arresting officer that it is a form of celebration, not rioting and vandalism.

Well, that is good to hear. I really doubt it will ever happen. I live here, I've gone to games during my lifetime, and like you I went to UA. I've never heard more than a handful of folks say they wanted to do it at a game. 99% of the fans/students I've ever interacted with would be strongly against rushing the field. I've been at Bryant-Denny for some big wins too, wins other school's fans/students would have rushed the field for, and BAMA's folks all stayed in their seats.

I will say that I remember a story about some UA fans rushing the field in B'ham at Legion Field after the win over auburn in 1990. I was not at that game, but I know some folks who were, and according to them, it didn't turn out well for the ones who jumped the fence. That is the only time that I know of that BAMA fans have ever gone onto the field, and supposedly even on that occasion, they were not trying to tear down the goal posts, they just wanted to run around and celebrate with the players.

I just dusted off the DVD. The players and media (and everyone else on the sidelines) all rushed toward Tiffin at midfield. About 2 minutes or so after the FG, they show a shot of the entire field, and other than that group of players/coaches/support staff/media, there is nobody else on the field. The the fans were in their seats.

In other news, we've come a LONG way in video quality. Unless it is a BAMA PPV game, of course.

Bama doesn't play on Thursday and we do not tear down goal posts. Its the same as scoring a touchdown and handing the ball to the ref. Act like you've been there. We expect to win and do not play second fiddle to anyone. We've had to tolerate substandard performance for too long. Its time to regain the swagger and let them worry about us from now on.

I know I'm going nowhere when Rammer Jammer gets started up as the defeated barners leave the field!!!!

When this happens no matter the year I'll be one of the last to leave. I will take all of my years of frustration out on that one RJ. FWIW when it happens I think it needs to continue on and on....not just a 2-bar RJ. More like 5,6,7.

This reminds me of being in Knoxville when we finally beat the Vile. The celebration went on forever it was awesome.

I made the comment the other day during a PPV game while talking to a friend in Mphs that I have VHS tapes from the 80's that have better picture quality...and those tapes have been dubbed from the original.

The sad thing is...it's more than true. :lol:
