šŸˆ While watching FSU's season unfold I can't help but keep wondering why people aren't pointing to Jimbo. After all, he's supposed to have A&M in NC...

...contention in a few years, right?

When Taggert was hired I felt it wasn't the right move for FSU. When he started putting together his staff more questions were raised in my mind. But, this isn't all on Taggert.

ESPN's David Hale has a perspective.

Their line may be lacking, but folks are saying they recruited their line based on potential, not necessarily current talent. It did not pan out well, clearly. I also sit there and say Jimbo did not leave Florida State without a ton of talent. Francois is a solid quarterback, Akers was #1/2 running back in the country fighting Najee, Kaindoh, Marvin Wilson, Stanford Samuels, Laborn and countless other linebackers and defensive backs that were wanted by everyone. This is exactly what Georgia tried to say about Richt when Kirby arrived. They were trying to get out in front of any disaster by saying the cupboard was left dry. Well that's bullcrap, because Richt and Jimbo recruited a lot of talent to both universities and these new coaches had plenty to work with.

I agree blaming Jimbo for all the problems is a bit short-sighted, but he takes a good burden of it IMO.

I don't follow FSU very closely, but for your starting QB to go out and have such and extreme fall off to your 2nd string......is the coaches fault.
There should be some fall off, and not everyone can have studs stacked on top of one another, but for the amount of fall off they experienced after Francois went down is not acceptable at that level. They should have won 8-9 games last year. It didn't appear that #2 was "serviceable".

I'll be at the FSU game this weekend.... I think my FSU Alumni Wife will be pretty drunk before kickoff, so maybe I can stream the UA game on my phone ;)

I can say this, following that program now for over 20 year with my wife... Jimbo quit that team a few years back and should have been fired before the start of last year IMO.

Taggart is probably not a great hire for FSU, but to blame Jimbo for all of these problems is short-sighted.
At some point development has to be brought up in this conversation, right? It's certainly not a lack of recruiting. I saw a report that pointed out how UGA had signed 9 blue chip offensive linemen over the last few years and FSU had signed five or six more than the Bulldogs.

I'm not trying to pigeon hole Jimbo into a Butch Jones type of coach. But I'm beginning to question a few things about how he builds/runs a program.

Is it fair to say a 10 win ACC team is equivalent to an eight win SEC team? Both are good ball teams, but both are not elite. Jimbo record at FSU averages out to that 10 win mark. And, to be honest, I'm beginning to wonder if it wasn't for Winston if they'd have had the success they did for that two/three year run a few years ago.

I'll be there. Tell me what section you're in and I'll waive to you during the ceremonial old player tribute just before the players take the field.

Absolutely fair to say."...as it would be to say gus success and salary is because of Cam (as oc) and later unbelievable luck....
