🏈 Where are all the corndogs?

From conversations I've had, and from reading over comments here and there, it's a divided fan base right now.

You have those who think LSU wins but their reasoning on how they win will make you scratch your head wondering how they came up with that.

Others are more realistic and will state it's going to take a perfect game for the Tigers to end the day with the win.

Let's call it a state of confusion.

I can tell you this. They are upset about their offense and they have reason to be upset. I have wondered why no one has asked why Miles misled so many about how well Mettenberger was doing in spring, then summer, and fall camp.

I've had some funny things thrown my way the last few days.

I had one try to pull the "all any Alabama fan cares about is football." He said that in a group of guys—all fans of different schools—while we were talking football over a few beers.

I told him he was standing on a baseball. I can say this with no doubt. I've never seen such a look of confusion on a persons face. Oh, I got the "WTF are you saying" comment quickly.

When he heard we are seeing as many fans in our games as UCONN, that the gymnastics program was ranked #2 in attendance last year and softball led the nation...

Well, he got the picture.

I mention that to say this. There's not a lot they can say right now other than defense. And, they certainly have the right to talk about their defense.

BTW, this seems like a good place to drop this nugget.

With the arrests last week of Mathieu, Jefferson, and the other two you'd think since none of those guys were on the team it wouldn't have any bearing on the players. But, if you thought that you'd be wrong.

I have it on good authority that the team was divided on TM: some wanted him back on the team and others didn't. That spilled over on the practice field last week and it got a little...well, let's just say it wasn't under control.

Its interesting, Miles has proven in the last 2 regular season games that he will swap a QB out quickly - or shall I say, he will swap out Jarrett Lee after a few INTs against Bama. He failed to do this with Jordan Jefferson on the largest stage and he's failed to do this all season with Mettenberger.

He doesn't have a dual threat QB, so now he is forced to play Mett/Rivers/Bolden. Do we see more wildcats from them...

They aren't gonna throw on us this year, this we know...

Outside of Duder, I haven't seen many rival fans at all this year. Dont even remember the typical Arky fan (Rev. Piggie or something?).

Razorback Rev.

He posted a thread here in the last week or so about who we thought they should hire as coach. Throwitdeep stops by often, but hasn't posted much this season. Deep down, I know both are wishing basketball season will hurry up and get here.

I actually think they do pass on us this year. It'll work.

If you think about the long drives MSU had against the defense they had success with short routes, and being patient. LSU can do the same with short routes.

I don't know if it's in their make up to be patient.

I also suspect they'll get a receiver past our corners on a few occasions. But, that brings two questions to mind. One, does Mett continue to overthrow the receiver. And two, if he doesn't does the receive continue to drop the ball. Both have been issues this year.

Clarify that...300yds or 150yds :) - only one QB has thrown for more than 200 yds against Bama this year, it was Denard w/ 200 yds exactly.

Of course Mett's gonna throw - he's just gonna get hammered all night long, its not like he's gonna get outta the pocket and run with them heavy feet. He's averaged 177 yds a game in the air, he's thrown for 200+ twice (Idaho w/ 222 and Towson w/ 238).

If Russell was LSU's QB, I'd be very worried. Mett may indeed have some success, but he has such a slow release I think our DB's will have enough time to lock down or prevent some routes.

One QB has 200, three teams have 200 or more with MSU having the best success. Now, I understand Russell didn't have all the yards but it still has to be taken into account.

I won't be surprised if LSU gets @ the 200 yard mark. It'll depend on our ability to keep their RB corps in check. South Carolina was torn up by the running game, Florida handled it well.

Where it gets interesting, to me, is seeing when the yards on the ground are coming from.

Looking at Hill, there's a 3½ to 4 yard difference in what he's gaining in the first half compared to the second.

Their other RB's? Taking two runs out of Ware's stats and he's around 3 per carry. Hilliard has been the consistent one but when you put him against ranked/SEC teams he's around that 3 yard mark as well.

Robert Lester...what?

We do bring him up at times. However, when we've been in our nickel he's been playing what you'd see our of a Cover 1 safety.

In this case, I look at four players; Belue, Milliner, Sunseri, and Moseley.

If we only get one INT Saturday night, chances are it'll come in the middle of the field and not from our corners. They'll be keeping the ball in front of them and that's where that short passing game has its success.

I realize last year really means nothing in terms of this years game.

But, this seems like a good time to point something out.

Outside of Saban's first year, in the games Miles has won he's done so with a dual-threat QB. When it's been a pure passer, they've lost.

Taking the game last year...I feel they caught us a bit off guard when they went to Jefferson. Why? The dual threat aspect.

Now, they didn't have a lot of success with the option in January. But, a lot of that fault lies with their game plan. In the first game they had their blockers attacking our outside linebackers and they were able to get around the edge.

Why the hell they decided to use those blockers to take our inside guys in January I'll never understand. It left our outside guys, literally, just sitting there waiting.

I think passing yards against us are a bit skewed because by the time teams have had success against us we've had our backups and third strings out on defense.

i think LSU will have a few deep passes against us, but Mett is a flat footed QB and will remain in the pocket far too long, so he'll get hammered which I think will lead to happy feet and mistakes which leads to turnovers.

i won't be surprised if at halftime we're not up something like 24-0.
