🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 When it comes to power tools and the brand names...what would I find in your workshop/shed?

For me, buying power tools has changed over the last few years. As example, a few weeks ago I bought a new oscillating saw. I chose Kobalt. Why? I already have the batteries.

I need a new circular saw. It'll be either Kobalt or Dewalt. I already have the batteries and now it's likely I'll get another.

Honestly, I didn't realize how anal I am about this until starting this thread. I've talked about lawn mowers. I haven't had anything other than a Honda in almost 40 years. My hand tools...wrenches, sockets, etc. 90 percent or more are Craftsman. That started at Sears, went to K-Mart, and now at ACE...still replacement guarantees.

Preferences on your end?

DeWALT (and Bosch)

Drill/driver, impact driver, router, jig saw, brad nailer, table saw...all DeWALT (and I'll be getting more of their tools, as well)
Miter saw...Bosch (just got it a few weeks ago, love that thing).

But I do plan on getting some larger tools that are from Grizzly (larger table saw, band saw, jointer, oscillating sander, band saw, drill press, planer).

For hand tools, I have a mix of old Crafstman and new Craftsman. I also have some Husky thrown in. A good amount of my hand tools are holder than me as they belonged to my granddads and my dad.

and Bosch
There's a pretty big Bosch plant here in town...and now that I think about it, I don't think any of my friends have any tools that are Bosch. I can't recall seeing them and we all have worked at each others places dozens of times.

I have a level my granddad gave me that is a yard long, made of steel, and probably weighs five pounds.

There's a good chance it's four feet long. A three foot level would be a rare thing, indeed. Most are two, four or six feet.

I have several of the Milwaukee M12 series (drill, impact, 3/8 ratchet, oscillating saw, 18g brad nailer). If I ever decided to take on another meaningful project, I would consider adding some things from the M18 line, but I don't really need it now. I use the Ryobi 40v blower, works really well, and the accompanying weedeater has done well. I added tiller and hedge trimmer attachments for the weed eater, happy with both. Pneumatically, a couple of Paslode framing and a 16g finish. Several circular saws, all Skil. I can't remember my router brand, bought a kit to hang several doors the other day, worked very well. Porter Cable sawzall. I have my Dad's old table saw, it's an all-steel beast at least 60 years old - Sears. Metabo power miter, probably the tool that nudges me toward marginally adequate carpenter.

I used to have one of those with the edger, blower, and tiller attachments although it was electric. There was a lady getting a divorce down the street from me and she was selling the attachments for five bucks a piece. I bought the attachments, then went and bought the string trimmer. Man, that thing had some power!

I bought a Kobalt (24V) string trimmer last year. I used it one week and gave it away...went to the 40V. It's got some power. Heavier, but much more balanced.

I don't know why, but this sounds like the preamble of a Penthouse Forum submission...a divorcee' with an edger, blower and tiller that you bought one piece at a time.
