Did anyone see the BCS show tonight? This guy has a big problem with Alabama being ranked ahead of Oklahoma. He says Ole Miss jumped out to a 7 point lead, but fails to mention the 52 points Bama ripped off after that and how they shut down Ole Miss. He is apparently not impressed with Trent Richardson and thinks the Oklahoma performance over Kansas was more impressive.:headscratch:

You have to separate the writer from the columnist. He covered the Big12 for years for a paper out of Kansas City? Somewhere in that area. He was a damn good sports reporter.

Now that he has his gig on ESPN's First Take he's developed an on-air personality. Hey, he's a lot like Holtz in a manner of speaking.

As to his perceived bias...a lot of the coaches are voting OU #1. Do you think they've got a big problem with Bama as well?

I'll concede he probably didn't watch the game, just briefly looked over the box score, IF that.

Did they jump out to a 7-0 lead? Yes. That broken coverage—52 yards—and the five play drive gave Ole Miss 72 yards on their first possession. Yet, no mention of the fact they didn't gain a single yard the rest of the first half.

On a side note: I had one guy that works for one of our media outlets that told me last night we petered out on our last drive. I just walked away on that one...we were in the victory formation with over a minute and a half left on the clock. Never mind we scored on five of our six possessions in the second half.

OM- 18 total yards in the third quarter, another 38 to start the fourth that ended in the goal line stand at the 1.

I could go on...

It was a impressive win.

He basically is worried that the "game of the century" on Nov 5th will be a close one and that something strange will happen causing Bama/LSU to meet up again in the MNC. (See Florida/FSU circa 1996) I don't think it will ever happen with the BCS the way it is, but is gave Bayless something to rant about last week.

I'm not saying Oklahoma doesn't have a good defense. I'm saying Bama and LSU are significantly better than the Sooners on defense. Oklahoma has a more explosive offense that Bama, but their D isn't in the same league. That is generally true of teams in their conference. They may have better offenses, but they don't have SEC-type defenses.

He is a total arrogant, NFL junkie-- he does not know the world of college football and the differences in conferences, he doesn't understand the idea of "ranking's of opponents" and he is very very very pro paying college players which makes me furious... he just has no idea what he's talking about

Agreed. I guess its all in how we perceive the phrase "holding a candle". I probably took it to be a lil more negative towards OU's D than you meant it. OU has looked SEC-like at times but against pretty weak competition. Like Kansas had 5 total yards in the 2nd half last week. Granted, great defenses are supposed to treat teams like KU that way, but at least OU did. Still pissed FSU has fallen this far too.

I would say about 90-95% OU fans feel this way about Bayless. He's said some pretty retarded crap over the years.
