Hey everyone, hope you guys don't mind having a Sooner on your board. There seems to be some cosmic kindred connection between Tide and Sooner fans over the last decade or so. I figured it'd be fun to chat with you fine Tide fans over the coming football season since I do actually pull for Bama when they're not playing Oklahoma.

So, how do you guys see it playing out for Alabama this year? I know the SEC is extremely difficult year in and year out, but I imagine you guys are pretty stoked this year?

I think winning a MNC takes luck as much as skill. I think there is a large amount of skill to be in the hunt, but injuries and a few breaks always plays into whether or not you make it to the BCSCG. We have the skill set to make the run. Do we have the luck? Only time will tell. Looking back to our most recent run in 09 we had games such as the Tennessee game where Mt. Cody blocked to field goals in order to preserve our win, or the South Carolina game where Mark Ingram put the team on his shoulder and rushed for lemedy million yards out of the wildcat formation.(that kind of luck)

I stick my guns a statement I made during the height of the Shula years, and the height of our irrelevancy. I just want Alabama to be in the hunt. To start around the top 10 and be mentioned every year or so for a shot at the national championship. Much like the decade you guys have enjoyed under Stoops, you guys know too well the highs and lows of having been on top of the mountain, the lows of the valley, and to rise to the top of the mountain again. I just enjoy being hated by so many SEC rivals once again.

As far as the season playing out, I feel we have a legitimate shot of living up to the the 09 season. I feel that we have a similar offense with similar question marks. (new QB) (4-5 OL returning) Probably the question mark is who will be the WR that takes the heat by drawing double team from the defense. Our defense is deep and very talented, and I think that proves to be the difference maker. As you guys know too well, that in college football anyone can beat you on any given week, but if our teams do what they are capable of week in and week out, then hopefully we get to meet you guys in the Big Easy to have a rematch of the 02-03 seasons. RTR and Boomer Sooner!

As for what the year may bring.....who knows, SEC play will be brutal as usual....but if we can stay healthy and catch a few breaks, i think we will be in the hunt at the end. Atleast we dont have last years schedule....probably the most brutal schedule ive ever seen.

Let me add my welcome also. My best friend here in Morgan City, LA is a Sooner fan. I told him a team whose colors are crimson and cream can't be all bad. Would love to see Bama and OU in the Superdome for the BCS title. Boomer Sooner, y'all.

Hey, thanks everyone! Every Tide fan i've ever met has been beyond respectable, a lot like my Sooner fans are, although I'm sure every school has a few knuckleheads that ruin it for the good ones. I am VERY excited at the prospect of OU/Bama hooking up in New Orleans. Just about every OU fan I know that went there back in 2003 against lsu had a horrible experience with tiger fans. They seriously needed way more police there than there was around. In fact, it was so bad that some have mentioned NOT going down there even if you guys were meeting us there, and it has nothing to do with you all.

Most OU fans know how lucky we have been the last 12 seasons, some are retarded and ask for coaches heads when the title isn't won. We love Stoops and the way he runs his program year in and year out. We haven't always been in the Nat'l title hunt every year, but just to be mentioned is a good thing.

It sucks we lost Austin Box completely, and now Travis Lewis with his broken toe. Lewis did fb post the other day he thinks he will be back by the FSU game, but who knows. He is the QB of our defense, but the D overall should be alright. I'm still not really sold on our road game abilities. We eeked out some road wins last year, but lost a couple too. The law of averages says that losing 2 home games in Stoops' entire era means a home loss is coming. You can't just win all of them, so I expect a home loss any season now, but who knows, maybe not for a while.

I sure would love to see Bama get through the SEC gauntlet and make it to New Orleans against OU. I agree it does take luck for any team to make it, which is cool with me cause that means the competition is tougher. I'm ecstatic that OU has made it to the title game as much as we have, even though we can't seem to find the W there. I really wish we would do another series again. I know a ton of OU fans that had a blast with you guys in Norman, and a few that had nothing but good things to say about the Bryant. Of course it had nothing to do with sneaking out of there with a W on a fake punt and hail mary. :lance: Seriously, though a lot of Sooner fans have their eyes on Bama with a real shot at both of us making it there.

Welcome to Tide Country. This site is pretty cool. I've been a member for five years and it's always been THE place to be for Tide fans. But we have folks who pull for Auburn, Arkansas, Utah, etc. Pretty much everybody on the site is okay with people who root for other teams, even for arch rivals, as long as people can be classy about it.

Oklahoma has a tremendous tradition. Can't imagine anybody ever winning 47 games in a row like Bud Wilkinson did.

Thanks Chief. There is a reason I wanted to find a board like this for this season, and there is a reason I went looking for a Bama board. Your post pretty much sums it up. I have a pretty good idea this is gonna be a fun season coming here.
