I am heading up to Tuscaloosa for my first time on Friday. Just coming up for the day to walk around and check things out. I was wondering what is there to do for free or cheap ? I live about 4 hours from the area so just coming up for the day. I'm bored. Haha Thanks!!

Yea, I can spend a little money but the holidays are right around the corner so just looking for something cheap. Doesnt have to be absolutely free. I already had that one on the check list though. Thats the first thing I am doing!! Thanks !

You can walk the campus and check it out. The architecture is amazing, and there is tons of history there. Check out the Walk of Champions and around the stadium, the baseball and basketball area along with the football complex are across the street from the Bryant Museum.

As far as food and drink plenty of places to eat and drink that are reasonable. If you like a good cold beer try the Houndstooth and stand at the bar.

Definitely make your way over to Denny Chimes to check that out.

And dont drive the campus. Park somewhere and stroll around. Start on Bryant Drive and walk between the buildings over to the Quad. Check out Denny Chimes and the team captains squares. Then stroll past the library back towards the student center. I'm telling lots of great stuff to see.

Actually if you have a decent iPod I think the school has a campus tour app or podcast you can download.

Tuscaloosa Museum of Art. It houses Jack Warner's personal collection of art. Used to be located at their corporate offices on Jack Warner Parkway. The company is called Westervelt.

You can go on facebook and find Tuscaloosa Museum of art. I visited it a couple of times when the entire collection was at the corporate offices. I think the museum is now at the North River Yacht Club. Either way, it was free and truly amazing.

Just out of curiosity, as I will making my first trip to T-town in the spring, what are the cheapest hotels/motels/etc in the area? I plan on visiting all of the above locales as well :tennis:

I have stayed at two different motels/Hotels in T-Town, La Quinta and Days Inn. They are both fairly cheap and ok to stay in. Last year due to prices I stayed at the La Quinta in Hoover. That was soooo much nicer for about the same price I payed the other year in T-Town. Even tho' it take an hour to get there,it was worth the stay.

BTW,when I went to the Bryant Museum this year at A-Day,it was $2.

Thanks, I really appreciate it!! Can't wait to visit. My boyfriend and I just want to take a road trip and I wanted to stop at T-town but he wants to go all the way to NoLa soo bleh. But I am really pumped to go back to Bama, I miss it!!

I haven't been to NOLA since a year after Hurricane Katrina hit. I have no idea what it looks like now. I have heard there has been a lot of improvement tho'. I need to get back out there soon.I don't usually do much, just enough to get out of town for a day or two.
