🏈 What was the hardest, most difficult, Alabama loss ever for you to take?

The Notre Dame games in 73 and 74 sealed my hate for them as a young boy before I knew the history behind 66 and before the debacle of 76. The 6-3 Miss St game should have never happened in 1979 and ruined another chance for a 3peat. The 2010 IB was ours and would have ruined awbarns season. The kick 6 was almost like a voodoo doctor was messing with us- nothing went right to clinch that's game.

But the worst feeling I can think of, despite attending the 2010 IB ( my son and I were speechless for the first two hours on the ride home) was being in the other end zone trying to watch as Watson drove Clemson to the win. Hats off to Watson but it never should have been a wining drive for them and I hate it for the boys like Jon Allen who stayed to win another and came SO close.

I am old so this could take awhile...

1963 loss to GT 7-6 in the raid vs GT in Hotlanta.....cost Bama a NC...Joe Willie threw 4 or 5 picks that day
1973 loss to ND in the Sugar Bowl
1994 lost to Florida in the SECCG
2010 loss to the cow college
2013 loss to the cow college
2016 loss to Klempsum in the NC game

all tied for the worst loss
I agree @JoseyWalesTheOutlaw . I would add one more to your list: The 1965 Orange bowl loss to Texas.

@TerryP , I was 20 years old for the 1973 loss to ND and my future bride and I were at the game. The ND fans were so arrogant before, during and after the game that we came home with a dislike of the domers that is only surpassed by our dislike of the viles.

1973 loss to ND in the Sugar Bowl by far. First memories of a hard loss. I was 9.
2010 iron bowl only because I was there and still remember Mark Barron unable to lift his arm enough to bat the the pass down. Was completed right in front of me where my seats were.

ugh. i remember that play. the look of disgust on his face by not being able to make a play when it was pretty much a given for him any other time. you just had to really feel for him on that one.

As a young kid, 9-10 years old, the 1980 6-3 loss to Miss State was crushing. The 7-0 loss to Notre Dame in ‘80 was a pisser as well.
As an adult, the ‘10 Iron Bowl really was a kick in he nuts!! Follow those with the ‘13 Iron Bowl, I refuse to call it by that other name, and the ‘16 National Title game.

bradenob sums my experience up well. The loss hurt--we were young Bama fans, kids, at that point. The thing that I really identify with is found in the sentence quoted, "before I knew the history..."

As I grew up and learned more and more about the history of the Tide that hurt turned into a genuine dislike. Add to that learning how Holtz ran that program my dislike intensified. Then seeing so many jump on the ND bandwagon--as if it was their last bastion of hope/survival--it was ramped up another set of degrees.

I'm still of the opinion a good Notre Dame squad is good for college football. We saw how many followed that game; how many rooted for Notre Dame. But for gods sake, why couldn't they hold their horses--if only for a moment--before anointing them as the Notre Dame of old.

(I still laugh when I think about our conversations before that game. My mantra was "they can't tackle" and you didn't see that mentioned in pre-game coverage. But good lord, was that proven to be correct or what?!?!)

Kick 6. I sat numb on my couch for about 3 hours after that game. I was complete disbelief at what I had just seen. The 2010 is close 2nd. Mark Ingram's fumble defied the law's of physics! That ball should have bounced out of bounds and not haphazardly down the sideline. I HATE awbarn!!!!

Those 70's games with ND are the reasons I quoted my favorite win was the 2102 NC game. If I recall correctly were those ND games of the 70's and the 66 year, Bryant could have 3 more national championships.

I still hated seeing interviews with Parseghian even after he retired. ND and TX were the only universities Bama struggled against at the time:).

I have some personal connections to State College so this rivalry we had in the 80's with Penn State was never taken for granted with me. With that said, I'm still not over the 1983 loss we suffered in Happy Valley. That game was stolen from us, pure and simple. It led to the visiting team bringing their conference refs to this day but very little solace for those of us in the stadium watching that fiasco of a finish. I vividly recall how upset Ray Perkins was after the game and remember Paterno telling our coach to quit crying. I hated that program and coach after that game and it never changed for me even when the slimeball came back to Tuscaloosa in 2010 and got the King's welcome.

It's still a shame that Walter Lewis didn't get that comeback put on his ledger as the greatest of all time.

Never understood how he was ruled outta bounds.....
But Bama had one more play....pitch sweep....penn state stiopped it

That f*ing Kick 6. So many missed opportunities.... The way that game ended was absolutely sickening!

Have to add the 2010 Scam Knewton IB as well. Went down for that game and had such a great weekend.... Until halftime. That Auburn group was the height of their obnoxious coaches/roster/fans. Still don't know how Ingram's fumble didn't roll out of bounds... Nightmares of Mark Barron's deep ball flub (due to injury)

Ditto. And what's so bad about this Kick 6 crap is that all that barner BS about bammers living in the past...WTF have they done since this game? And that asshat Gary Danielson has fully encouraged them to keep on reliving it.

I remember even SI, who always seemed to disrespect 'Bama back then, writing an article showing Penn State's 'unregulatation' field - the extra TWO yards that PSU had to one sideline for a big play to be in bounds, and the carve out in the end zone so Gothard would be out of bounds on the catch. It gave me a DEGREE of solace that the win was not truly legitimate by most fans across the country- still their win in the record book.

@TUSKtimes, I had the biggest argument with my sister-in-law about that play! I was going to tell her to leave my home because of it!
To all the other about that '73 game. It almost got me arrest, My wife and I with into a store in Pittman ,NJ. The salesman got very rude about Bama losing the game. For you that don't know Yes I married a Yankee, and my daughter is one too. Although she is a Southerner by my blood. Here a side note about my wife and Averett both from Woodbury, NJ.

Pretty tough to choke that one down for sure. But I got you beat. My kinfolk are from State College and the surrounding area. All my grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces to boot. I was actually born about 7 miles from the stadium. I remember as a youngster on a visit during the Christmas holiday of going to the campus with a couple of my uncles and watching Penn State get ready to play Kansas in the Orange Bowl. I met All-American Mike Reid, a few others and got to say hey to JoePa on that visit. I had 2 cousins that played for the football team that I tried to support the best I could under the circumstances. When I was at the very first Sugar Bowl played at the Superdome in 1975 and then again in 1979 it was my kinfolk that insisted I go with them on their ticket. Both times I was the only dude that was decked out in full Crimson in a massive sea of blue. This series was about as personal as it got and after the 10-year contract was over, I was frankly kinda relieved.

All to say this, even they knew we got robbed to high heaven in 1983.

everyone was very nice and lots of ribbing...never an ugly word from anybody before or after...... just very hard place to find a store to buy beer...lol

How can anyone say anything other than kick 6 ?

Denied the shot at making history by accomplishing something never done before - a three-peat. One play away. That team also missed the playoff by one season. It was a cosmically unfortunate event.
