I think we will see Florida pull out every trick in the hat and maybe a few more. After the Arky game, CUM has got to be just chomping at the bit to try and go after our D with all kinds of crazy stuff. I think we will see a much prepared Florida team ready to prove a point. Hope our D is ready.....they gonna need to be.

As for our offense...McElroy has got to get that ball out quickly and with some zip.....no lofting passes and waiting forever for a play to develop....they will need to execute quicker and be crisp. The Florida D will have a ton of speed. And if the big play downfield presents itself.....he has got to put that ball where Julio can catch it....and that brings up another thing....Julio has got to catch it.

Last thought....Dont know if I can live through another game like last week....that one just about did me in.... This one has the potential to be very...very close.

We can't come out flat again...on either side of the ball. Early success by the bad guys is just too steep a hill to climb every week. NFL is on to somethig about Redzone matters. I like our chances, so don't be surprised if the shallow crossing routes are open as our Safeties ensure that a tackle can be made. Also, with uf feeling their oats with the run these days, our LBs are less likely to get as deep as they did last week. UF will want the sidelines, but the middle is what they will be given.

There are few truths in this uncertain world, but this is one of them. This ain't Kentucky...and uf ain't Arkansas.

What to expect? Well, we burned them on a play action TD pass to Peek last December, so they probably won't be quite as aggressive in run support. Ingram was very successful on screens against them last time, so they've got to be conscious of that, which should slow down their pass rush. I'm sure they will have some new wrinkles, but we will too.

IMO on paper this is a win for the good guys. Bama will come out strong boosted by a maxed out home crowd.
If we get the coin toss it's over for Florida.
They're gona try and load the box with their "HEAVY PACKAGE" on the 1st play and shut down the run.
Bad idea. Big day for #12, #8 & #4. Julio & Greg rip them a new one.
Thier best reciver doesn't even match up against Julio in statistics.
On offense thier Passing & Rushing numbers arent even close.
This will bea big game for the bama D as well. Providing the secondary doesn't give
away too many exlosive plays...thier passing game is relitivly weaker than last year by this time and
the run game still hasn't found a true RB. Our D line will hold agianst thier rushing attack.
And this Hybrid wanna be Tebo kid won't be anywhere as near as big of a factor as he's being hyped out to be.
My one concern is theis new Heavy Package thier putting together. While we have the 2 best running backs in the country
on our side....can they break to the out side as well as the crush through the middle? Our O Line will be ready. It's really
one of the bright spots on this years team IMO. I'm in a way hoping we hit the TE & RB on short out stide passes and let
the UF Secondary get elephant stomped trying to stop them.

The greatest equalizer to speed on defense is simple. You run straight at them. We don't have to "blow them off the line" just get your tail in the hole and turn. Vlachos' block on Ingrams long run at Arky is a prime example.

That's exactly it uagrad93. We shouldn't get into a lot of trouble, really, if we just ENFORCE the run. That Oline of ours is going to be matched up very well by the FL d-line, but we will eventually win that war. Plus, it keeps us away from throwing a lot into the teeth of the defense. Once they start feeling the punishment delivered by #22 and #3, they will bring someone else up to help stop the run, and BOOM, we go over the top of them with Maze. They had a killer D line back in 2005 too. That was considered their strong point. There were a lot of concerns and questions about Chris Leak in 2005, and he was certainly off badly that day. but we got tremendous pressure on him. I don't expect that this week. They will score some points. Arkansas got 20, and I expect Florida to be in that range too. However, I don't believe there is a defense in the land that can deal with our 2headed beast in Ingram/Richardson for 4 quarters.

We must ENFORCE our policy of running the ball. They don't have this policy, at least not with the level we do. Let's not forget how they've done so far....Pounded Miami-OH, 7-7 at halftime with South Florida, trailed Tennessee 10-7 in the 3rd, and waxed Kentucky. It's been a mixed bag for them.

We are Florida's first true test of the season. The win at tennessee was against possibly the worst viles team ever. The blew out Kentucky, but no matter what, it's still Kentucky. It was one of those "they were supposed to beat them that bad" games. I think us being the first real team they've played this season, plus home field, gives the edge, albeit slightly. 30-25, good guys.

I'm reminded of Julio's catch and run last year to seal the win over an LSU team that was seeking revenge. Despite that being a catch on the sideline, it was a block by one of our OL that sprung that loose. It occurs tome that UFs Heavy Package could cause our OL tonot be free to make such blocks for Receivers at crucial moments in he game. But then again, adding another big ugly Gator mans that it's just one more guy that can't make it into the picture as JJ scores.

Yep, that's the problem! I haven't seen florida this year, but player by player they're much more talented and faster than Arky.

While I belive Brantley has the potential, I'd give Mallet the advantage. As for Offensive coaching, I'd put Patrino up against Meyer.

It's their special teams that is light years ahead of Ark, and that's what really scares me.

UF has tons of speed, offensive and defensive. It could create some match-up nightmares.

My random thoughts:

On offense you guys need not do anything but make them prove their "heavy package" can stop your running game, period. Pound the ball and don't start throwing when you get in the redzone--stick wtih what got you there. I don't believe much in the way of a passing game will be open Saturday, even if the run is solid. Their secondary is good enough to contend with your receivers. They don't have anyone as physical as Julio back there but they have talent to burn. Establishing the run will be key.

For your defense, pressure Brantley and force them to make mistakes. Brantley is an accurate QB but he isn't a world-beater. If you can keep pressure on him with enough support in your secondary so receivers don't get open quickly there will be no problem shutting down their offense. The whole "Tebow-lite" angle wouldn't concern me
