This fall I'll be attending my first Bama game. I'm going to the Miss St game. My question is......

What should I do before I leave T-town? As in tourist things to see. I was born and raised in Hoover, but haven't been to Bama since 1996, so alot has changed.

And as for gameday what is a must do when attending a game? I have read about the tailgating on the Quad, but what else is a must do for a first "timer"?

Thanks..RTR,
Cory

Definitely got to go watch the band play on the library steps, go to the walk of champions, check out the new front entrance of the stadium including the new statues, get to the game early enough to see the pre-game video, and definitely stay at the stadium after the game to sing Rammer Jammer!

I don't know how many of the sports at Alabama you follow. I tend to follow a lot of them.

So, I would go over to the softball complex and look around there just to get a feel of where they play. While there, walk across the street to the REC center and see what the University has for her students. You can see the soccer complex, etc. from there also.

Head over the the main Ath. complex. Take a look at "The Joe" for our baseball team. You may find a door open to Coleman Coliseum. Go in, look over where our basketball team plays. While you are there walk over to the practice fields. If possible, you may even be able to take a look in the indoor practice facility.

I always take the time just to walk around campus. It's a site to behold if you haven't had the chance to look at some of the buildings, the student center, etc.

Walk through the RV lots. You won't regret it...and, you'll be amazed at some of the rides... in the million dollar ones.

Arrive early, leave late.

Go to Dreamland BBQ its a must its just south of t town

You should also go by Archibald's if you are up to eating BBQ twice in a weekend (and who isn't?)

After all, it was the Bar's favorite. :)

If its the new Dreamland location I'd stay FAR FAR away. Went there during A-Day and it was THE WORST BBQ I've put in my mouth. I wanted to try Archibalds but the wife talk me into Dreamland. I'll be making the decisions from here on out.

Mooooo Agewe!

Archibalds is a good choice. I can't imagine fighting the game day crowd at Dreamland. That place must be a madhouse on Saturdays. They do let you order takeout though, so I guess that would be the way to go. I've never been when there were more than 2 or 3 tables open, and I've been at some odd times.

Isn't Archibald's the place Todd Blackledge did his feature on in T'town last year in his series about the best eating places in college towns? That guy can put away a serious amount of chow. I wonder how he stays thin.

Thanks guys. I'm flying into T-Town on the 10th and leaving the 16th, so I'll have lots of time to look around.

Terry,

I hadn't even thought about walkign around campus and checking everything like that out. I'm definatly going to have to tour the place and see what she has to offer our students.

Thanks,
Cory

If you can, contact UA and see if they will give you a tour one weekday afternoon. There is a lot of interesting info you can learn in terms of history of the campus, that otherwise you'd never realize.

That's a good idea thanks a bunch. Do they do them in the fall??
