šŸˆ Western Carolina is/was a dirty team

Bama pays these kind of teams a ton of money to come to BDS. Contracts should call for substantial deductions for injuries caused by personal fouls such as the chop blocks. Perhaps they would refrain from coaching that if it was going to hit them in the wallet.

I didn't like the chop blocks and felt that was dirty play. The hits on our RBs and WRs by their DBs while legal, are low and just as dangerous. I think this is a direct result of the targeting rule.

I'm not normally one to consider this normally, but some of those hits seemed aimed for intentional injuries. Suffice to say, Nick won't let them come back again after that game. He saw the same stuff we did and he'd rather pay someone else to play us who has more integrity.

Is this a serious comment? It's freaking football. Don't act like emotion has never played a role in any of our players having a late hit, shot to the head, or a malicious hit intended on hurting someone. As a matter of fact, I went into every tackle as a player wanting to hit someone so hard they got hurt from it. I don't think recruiting guys 220-350 pounds and using them as battering rams is exactly safe for all parties. I don't see anyone talking about the number of injuried like Treadwell's where he was brought down from behind and broke his leg in two places. Outlaw that while we're at it.

Alabama paid these guys for a schedule filler type of game that could allow them to rest their stars and get ready for a rival. Alabama didn't pay Western Carolina to come in, roll over, and play flag football. Every team has their moments of weakness and dirty plays, but saying we should petition anyone about a chop block is pretty weak. You don;t think any of our guys pull stunts in the piles or in the trenches? I'll tell you that if Derrick Henry came running at me I'd damn sure be hitting him in the knees to take him down. You think Western Carolina got paid to send their players down to tackle all of our guys up high and risk injury for the almighty dollar? Ok, guys, the university is getting a big pay day from this, but the contract states we can only hit up high, there should be no face mask, no holding, or anything that could possibly stunt their title chances. Give me a break. Injuries are part of the game, it was just a coincidence it happened so frequently in this one. We've played tougher opponents and dirtier opponents this year without as many injuries.

Most of the injuries were legal hits. I could take one chop block occurring as something that just happened. The second one, however, leads me to think that this was a coached technique.

I'm not talking about freaking football. I'm not talking about emotion. I'm not talking about spur of the moment vicious football. I AM talking about obviously coached dirty football like one of the chop blocks, that wasn't called, whereby the center stood one of our linemen up and BOTH guards hit him low.

You honestly believe there are college programs out there teaching their players dirty football and to ruin/end the careers of other kids? Yes, you can bring up the Saints, but this is college football where I believe there are ao many watchful eyes that it would have gotten out or rumors spread on such actions.

@BamaFan334 The Barn is notorious for teaching the chop block! All you have to do is go back to 2010 and watch Nick Fairley on defense. He consistently got late hit after late hit on Aaron Murray in their game at the Barn. Watch the 2008 game against us. Their line chopped block on nearly every single play. Some teams are a win at all costs or hurt the hell out of your opponent, legal or otherwise. I have worked with a few coaches that would "teach" their position guys a few things that were often illegal.

@252BAMA and @uagrad93 Y'all will have to forgive 334, bless his heart. His "prestigious degree" was perhaps too prestigious. He has a hard time with the subtleties of simple assertions. According to him, he could also make y'all's "heads spin with statistics and logic," but he won't. Y'all ain't worthy of his Einstein-ian pronouncements.

@BamaFan334 has honored the RTB Republic by regaling us with his "academic credentials," and now he blesses us with pronouncements of his physical prowess, to wit:

I went into every tackle as a player wanting to hit someone so hard they got hurt from it.

Is this a serious comment, 334? If it is a serious comment then I can only assume that you approved of Dillon Day's attempts to stomp the guts out of the LSU players he assaulted while they were lying defenseless on the ground and that Gator thug's attempt to perform an eye-ectomy on Todd Gurley in a pileup.

And I still say Arkansas would destroy Oregon, even in Eugene.

Not following you on this, Cracker. Laying the wood to someone as hard as you can is not equivalent to deliberately trying to injure opponents.

@psyschojoe that's not what was said, Joe. If a player goes after another player with the intention of hurting that player then in my book it's no different from what Day and the Gator thug did. "Laying the wood" to someone is an entirely different thing in my book.

What's the goal of laying the wood? Is its intent to injure? I realize injuries can occur while laying the wood, but what is its intent? It's to stop forward progress as quickly as possible. It's to prevent a tackler from reaching a ball carrier, etc. When the intent becomes to cause injury then laying the wood is nothing more than an assault. With that said, I agree with your definition of "laying the wood." Judging from what he wrote, it would appear 334 has a different definition.

He said hitting the other guy hard enough to injure them. You can hit them that hard without the intent of injuring them. Reuben Foster brings maximum impact to every tackle he makes on kickoff coverage. I doubt that you think Reuben is trying to injure the opponent. The hard hit sometimes makes the other guy tentative, which is the desired result.

You must be about 16 years old because your post just proves you have no substance. Are you so hung up on my academic achievements that you simply have to comment about it each time you post? You want me to say I'm smarter and more accomplished than you? Is that what you want, because I'll do it if it will open up a floodgate of comments for you that you continue to reach for. You're out to get me for calling you out on your comments about thinking the entire SEC is better than the best teams in every other conference. Get a life and stick to the conversation. I simply can't believe a possible grown man would act like a complete child on a public blog. And here I thought I was through with high school.

Ha ha, what a joke. Another attempt to provoke me into an argument with you. Go back into your cave and find something more along your level to do, because football doesn't appear to be a strong suit for you. Maybe the cheerleaders are more of what you need to watch, a lot less contact where they are.

I have come to the conclusion that I'm the most horrible person ever. I'm an old man who's trying to be 16; I have no substance; I'm hung up on 334's academic achievements; and I'm a possible grown man acting like a complete child. I have not the self esteem left with which to properly respond to 334's latest production, not to mention the fact that I'll end up in trouble again if I do. I need to find a life, apparently, so with that I'm going back into my cave to hang with the cheerleaders. Maybe they can help.
